"These highlands were formed more than a half-billion years ago when Africa collided with North America, pushing the Appalachian Mountains north."
i don't know where Benning De LaMater went to school, but i think according to the geologic timeline, and by consulting a simple globe, they should have realized that africa never connected with north america, in fact it seperated from south america...
is this the kind of country we live in? where even the people we trust to tell us facts in the news have no idea where continents sit on this planet? where africa sits below the equator connected to north america via panama?

The Berkshire are in Massachusetts only and the heart of the Berkshires is Berkshire, Mass where the spring is located.

Vermont has The Green Mountains, NY has the Taconic Range and Connecticut has, well, I don't know what they have...

Actually, it's the tectonic plates that North America and Africa sit on -- you can look it up in any respectable encyclopedia. Although I believe he should have mentioned the influence of glaciers on this area.

I'm looking at a National Geographic map...Northwest Africa connected to the east coast of North America. Then they separated into two supercontinents: Laurasia and Gondwana ~165 million years ago.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Cancer

It's a sensational Full Moon in your sign, combined with a lunar eclipse! Holy cow! However, once you accept that even the best-laid plans could go awry today, you'll find that life is a lot easier to cope with. Try your hardest to take everything in your stride, even if you do have to rethink an arrangement at the eleventh hour. At least it's never a dull moment! Do your best not to let the tensions of the day spoil what promises to be some spectacular New Year's Eve celebrations. It will be an opportunity to let off steam. Have fun!
