Is this hospital's ER not the most rude uncaring people u have ever seen?? I stood in there for 30 minutes today without ever seeing anyone in triage to talk to with a sick baby. i know sometimes hospitals get busy, and maybe they need more staff, but other hospitals are wonderful, I went 10 minutes down the road to W & C and my injured son was treated like a king!!
I agree

I went to Thomas with a severe asthma attack and was left in the waiting room gasping for air for half an hour before a nice concerned lady stood up and asked if they were just going to let me die in the waiting room. I am so thankful she did because otherwise I probably would have passed out on the floor.

yes, there is something very strange about that place and the people who work there,,they almost killed my Mother there 3 years ago,, she is still suffering from the "treatment" they gave her. if your not very ill when you get there,, chances you will be by the time you leave!

My aunt had knee replacement surgery done there. When I went to visit her I spilled a little coffee on her bed rail and wiped it up with a clorox wipe that I keep in my purse since I couldn't find a towel. The wipe came back BLACK!! I cleaned the other rail as well with another and it came back black as well. Completely DISGUSTING housekeeping department. Can't even clean the bedrails?!? I showed the nurse and and just shrugged and walked away.

Thomas is a horrible hospital! They killed my grandmother last year. While we were visiting her, she needed the nurse and it took us 25 minutes to get them to come to her room while there were 6 nurses sitting in the nurses station. The doctors there have no clue of what they are doing, someone needs to do something about this. Also, their facilities are just plain disgusting!

If you were having a "severe asthma attack" you would of died before the 30 minutes was up.

I could tell you story after story. It's awful and it has to do with the nursing supervision. Pathetic. A friend is a former nurse from there. She goes elsewhere and works elsewhere now.
Thomas is pathetic. Most of them don't read charts and have no clue what they're doing. The only reason anyone I know ever went there is because that's where their doctors had rights. I'd switch doctors...

I have refrained from posting on this thread thus far as I have had good experiences at Thomas. Night shift especially has been excellent when I have been there for the most part. I realize there are differences depending on who is working at the time. Some nurses seem to be better than others, some doctors more attentive, etc. It can be hit and miss with a lot of people as to their experience.

But after my experience recently with the day shift staff I must say I believe they need to do some house cleaning. There are some very rude, unprofessional, uncaring, hateful people in the medical field. I have been in the ER off and on several times over the years and my experience with day shift has been soured by several nurses. And not to sound sexist it is always the women that seem to be pissed off at the world. If you hate you job so much why do it? If you are in the health care field and care so little for people that you have no compassion left in you find another job.

I can see things getting no better while some of the women that work in the ER, especially some of the charge nurses, are there.

Worked there long ago I sure seen alot!!! I was one of the ones who did care about my patients and often was told to hurry because I was spending time (which they needed) too much it is very sad and I very much agree why go into nursing if you are a sourpuss mean person who doesn't like to care for others and honestly some do not even want to touch their patients it doesn't make sense to me maybe it's the money I loved my job and loved the people like my own family it is a grueling job at times but have a heart. And also the world is changing people don't care and respect each other anymore. And doctors are just as bad believe me there is good and bad in each hospital. Good luck

Terrible in every aspect. My dad swears that one of his nurses during his last stay was high on something. He said she could barely form sentences.

I saw one like that. My mom when in for swelling around her spine/herniated disc...they gave her so many pain meds without dialysis (she was normally 3x a week), she presented like a stroke victim! We went in one day she's fine, next day to visit and she looked like this. I started raising the roof, the ditzy nurse just blinked at me and said "I thought that's why she was here". No joke.
It took me calling the supervisor from my cell phone on the direction of an off-duty ER nurse to get anyone to take action. They nearly killed her that time.

I tell you what people: don't complain here..call the administrators office. I've been there once...once.
There was a hospital just like it in AZ. and they treated me like they do at Thomas and when I left I called the hospital admins office and told them that only am I NOT paying the bill but they would be lucky to walk away with a law suit. Two days later I get a call and was informed that the services would be paid by the hospital.
I hate frivolous law suits and I don't agree with most of them, but a hospital is where you go when you're sick, not a place to go to get sick.
Call the administration. Raise some hell. Don't let them treat you, or anyone else for that matter, like you're less of a person than they.

Thomas Hospital. Wow. Where to start. Well once in high school I fractured my wrist and it took them 5 hours just to get me back to xray. Ok well things happen. But in November of last year I found out I was pregnant. About week later I started cramping really hard at work. Thomas was across the street so I went their instead of women's and children's because it was close and I was freaking out. I sat there for 4 hours before I got looked at. They did a vaginal ultrasound BTW there tech was half asleep. The only time she talked to me was when she told me to empty my bladder. They said everything was ok and I was just having "pregnancy pains" which were caused by my uterus stretching. I was 8 weeks pregnant then. 1 month later I ended up in the hospital because I was bleeding heavily and having contractions. I miscarried. I was told that gestation of my baby was only 8 weeks, the same time I was seen at Thomas hospital. It took me 2 days to pass my miscarriage, but I still didn't pass it on my own. I ended up in the hospital on Christmas. I had bled threw 4 pads in 1 hour. I lived a block away from the hospital but I bled so much on my way their that you could squeeze my pants and blood just came out like a waterfall. They had to do a d&c because I couldn't pass on my own. Right after that I passed out, woke up with an iv and a blood pressure of 64/30. And it was over after 4 different antibiotics and 2 months of iron pills my body was physically back to normal however my mind wasn't. I'm finally over the depression and now I'm just angry. Everytime I see that ultrasound I break down. I can't look at a child without almost being in tears. And its sad that a hospital could have at least attempted to save my baby's life & did nothing. Not only did they take my baby but they took my life.
sorry

This may be a shitty hospital, and I'm very sorry for your expirence but if you were having a miscarriage already there would have been nothing they could have done anyways.
