It doesn't sound as if the deadly shooting of this young 22 year-old man was necessary. Did this young man have a weapon? Was he an immediate threat to any of the officers involved? These are important questions that we should be asking. I support our law enforcement 100%, but was it absolutely necessary to kill this young man or was it poor judgement on the police officers behalf?

Yet again..the "police" around here will get off the hook..they try to walk around big and bad and in truth are scared of their own shadows. Before you kill someone you better make damn sure you are making the right decision. SOunds like these plain clothed cops jumped the gun. Now a young man is dead. I hope these cops get what's coming to them!!

I'm sorry this tragedy took place. One thing is certain though...you do the wrong things in life...they'll come back to haunt you.

Should everyone who's done something wrong be shot to death? I bet you have a few skeletons in your closet. I guess you want us to stone to death those who are not righteous. Seems to be with three cops there they could have handled this situation in a totally different manner. This family needs to push til they get to the truth.

Easy there with the noose, everyone. None of you have the facts and, therefore, can't make a judgement. The only reason that an officer pulls his/her weapon out is because they are reasonably in fear for their own life, or the life/lives of others. If the kid "clipped" two other officers WITH HIS VEHICLE, I am inclined to believe that the vehicle was the weapon. The good thing is that this Sheetz station, and every other, has video cameras. I imagine you will get the answers you so desperately seek in due time. In the meantime, easy on the lynching.

PS - Taxpayer - sounds like you have had a few run-ins with the cops yourself in the past. Too bad you don't have what it takes to walk in their shoes, but have the nuts to sit here and judge them. Pathetic.

Firtst of all..I don't have "nuts"..i'm a woman. And secondly I have NO criminal record, but i see daily how the police walk around like they are Gods and us mere "citizens" don't matter. I too work in customer service and every time i've needed the police I've been dismissed and ignored. And know first hand of at least 3 who are having extra marital affairs on duty!!!

If you work there then do your job. And every convenience store in the country has video cameras. So don't act like yours is so special.

Then take the comment about the "nuts" as a metaphor. Seeing that a police officer's job is 24/7 then, yes, the argument can be made that anything they do is "on duty." Were I you, I would also be careful about spreading rumors regarding "extra-marital affairs" in which you are not involved. Anything outside of your personal experience is going to be hearsay and likely a case for slander if you are caught talking out of your ass. It seems, further, that your perception of officer's acting as "Gods" is slightly misplaced as you seem to be in the minority about that opinion. As I have said, why don't you just decline any help they might lend in the future. This way you're not labeled a hypocrite when you accept the help of those you have so critically besmirched.
When, in the past, you have been "dismissed and ignored," you may want to think about the circumstances and ask yourself if this really is the case. I have a friend who has been married 5 times. She claims that she keeps getting hooked up with bad guys. I posed the thought, "if you've been married 5 times and none of them have worked out, it just might be you."

How is this person not doing their job by commenting, providing their opinion and making a statement? Just because you don't agree with it doesn't give you the right to throw out a childish, 3rd grade statement like "uh... why dont you do ur job then????" So - as a wrap up, are you just jealous because you felt like they were trying to make their convenience store sound better than yours? Is that your "customer service" position?

I respect the fact that you knew this young man. Don't get me wrong. I feel horrible that someone lost their life. My attack was directed at Taxpayer and the cynical, jaded perspective with which she was approaching law enforcement, and her blind distrust and hatred for the people who are charged with the protection of society. I don't doubt that Mr. Seamster was a non-violent person. The fact of the matter, however, is that neither you nor I were present when this took place and we have no idea what the facts of the matter are. Have officers made the wrong decisions in the past? I am sure they have. Have suspects/victims made wrong decisions in the past? I am sure they have.

If you look at my posts, I don't think you will find anywhere that I made any comments about Mr. Seamster's character. I never said that he was a gangster or a drug dealer. Further, I NEVER STATED THAT THE POLICE WERE IN THE RIGHT. What I have suggested, though, is that the facts will come out in due time and that I do not think it's fair to assume that the police have done something wrong when none of us knows the facts.

Shooting out the tires on a moving vehicle, when someone arguably feels that their life is being threatened is an unreasonable request. This is the stuff made up in movies, the media, and the occasional COPS episode. Officers are not trained to shoot out tires. If they use their weapons, they are trained to use them to nuetralize a threat.

Lastly, again, I am not making judgements about Mr. Seamster, his reputation or his life. As well, I expect the same from anyone else who has no factual evidence about what happened. I think it's only fair to keep an open mind about the situation.

Sometimes it can be hard to seperate emotion from rational thought. Respectfully, since you were friends with this young man, I would have just as much of a hard time removing the emotion as you apparently do. I do not mean that insensitively, I am just stating what my perceptions are.

As for Taxpayer - she started/continued threads by making wild, outlandish accusations about police officers in general. I have lost friends of mine who were police officers. Two of them died at the hands of a criminal. I am not suggesting that Mr. Seamster was a criminal, but what I am suggesting is that I cared about those officers just as much as you cared about Mr. Seamster, and yes, I will not their lives go out like that - and that, too, is a promise.
