If whole families sign up for military service, that means that the Chickenhawks won't have to go.

I think it's wonderful that the mother and daughter team have banned together to stand behind the United States and all she stands for. KUDDOS!

I cannot believe that the mother thought it feasible to become a generator mechanic so she could learn a new skill. Her brother should have a foot put up his ***. She is a registered nurse and could do more good in that field than as a mechanic. She also has the potential to expand to bigger and better things in the nursing field. They would have had to pay her a hefty bonus for her experience and education, which is why I believe he enlisted her as a mechanic. It's reasons like this that people are getting out of the military. He also knows that she is more likely to be on the battlefield rather than in a hospital helping the injured soldiers. WHAT WAS THIS GUY THINKING. "OOOPS, he wasn't. As a veteran, I am embarrassed that this guy is still in the military.

An inspiring article! Let's hope the two women get the opportunity to further their educations. The attitude they express is positive and inspirational.

If it's "something I always wanted to do", as the mother said, then why did she wait 23 years to do it? She's 40 and could have enlisted when she was 17.

Don't you ever have anything decent to say? You must be a sad bitter old man. I bet you have no friends. And probably no job since you always appear to be posting.

At least she won't be squeezing retirement pay out for the next 50 years like so many retirees.

It would be decent of the chickenhawks to
sign up for military service, instead of
relying on whole family groups bearing
the weight that the entire country ought
to be bearing.

By Chickenhawk, I assume you are talking to Cheney, G.W. Bush (oh, where art thou, National Guardsman?), Limbaugh, O'Reilly and, oh yeah, go ahead and add Clinton to the mix too if you must. But the significant fact is that the majority of the architects of this war (hmmm...maybe fabricators is a better word) and those who continue to advocate this war, never served. Was it 4 or 5 deferments for Cheney? I've lost count.
