"Federal officials ...[terminated the] insurance plans ...because of delays and denials of medical care"

Aren't delays and denials the whole purpose of these programs? They pay some pitiful percentage of the bill, late, if at all, and make people jump through hoops to even get that. It makes sure you only use the doctor if you really need to, isn't that another result they intended? I'm surprised they don't give AHC an award for administering the plan exactly as intended.

I know this is all false...America's Health Choice as well as the clinics have provided nothing but care and wonderful medical attention to all of it's memebers. I will continue to support AHC and all of it's clinics.

Tell my Mom who is now buried how wonderful AHC's care is. It only took 4 months for them to put her in a comma and another 2 months to kill her. I filed complaints back in 2003..only took 4 years to get results.

Then you are one of the few lucky ones. AHC should have been shut down back in 2005.

It all comes down to the fact that all insurance plans under our medicine-for-profit system make a profit by DENYING CARE!

It's about time AHC was shut down, Medicare should never have given them the green light to begin with! It just goes to prove the saying, "what goes around comes around."

All health care is for profit. If there is no profit there is no health care. There would be no doctors, nurses hospitals etc.

Well, that's funny, because the countries that DO have universal health care have plenty of doctors, nurses, hospitals, everything you need to keep your citizens healthy. I'm thinking of: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland (North and South), Spain, Italy, in fact ALL OF EUROPE. Canada, too. And it works quite well. And it is paid for through taxes. And EVERYONE is covered. EVERYONE. And nobody worries about losing their house when they get sick, they just have to worry about getting well.
I have been there, have you?

Read this wikipedia article for more information. Our health costs are higher, and lifespans shorter, than other places.(Read down to the table outlining these costs for an eye-opener. And there are many pros and cons, but ultimately we need to cover everyone equally, so as to allow our companies to compete. We are at an unfair advantage due to our outrageous healthcare costs!

In most of those countries it takes forever to get an appointment, you must have just watched the Michael Moore movie Sicko, you know, no one is forcing you to stay here in the U.S.....

ahc not only has provided great healthcare but wonderful treatment to the members. we always were expected to give quality care and compassion to all the pt's. we all know the truth that some people lied and wanted to get even with the owner's but those people have hurt alot of happy seniors who have gone from content with thier dr's and nurses to stressed beyond belief. sometimes we should stop being selfish and think of other's. this hmo has help my own parents so much and given them quality care. and i know first hand that we all did a great job and the are so sad that their are such evil people in the world but.... GOD has the final say in all things.. STAY ENCOURAGED DR. AND MRS.JANKE your the best

The health care industries in these countries do make a profit. The cost of health care there escalates just as fast as here. It is just paid through taxes. None of those systems work very well either. It isn't universal health care it is socialized health care.

No, they do NOT make a profit. The whole system is designed to treat patients, not profit-oriented. There are still some private health insurance companies, THEY make a profit, I was talking about nationalized health universal health care. How many European countries have YOU received care in, that you can state they don't work very well? Universal health care/socialized healthcare/single payer health care are all very similar, they are designed to treat Everyone.
And what is Medicare if not socialized health care? Call it what you want, it works. The U.S> is rankede 37th in the world for patient outcomes and #1 in highest cost. Ask the English, Canadians, French, etc, if they would switch to the profit-based system we have, and the vast majority would say no. Their systems aren't perfect but they are better than here where you can lose everyhting you own to pay medical bills, and they will still let you die in the street. It's a shame, we shouldn't be a 3rd world country.

It took my husband a day to get an appointment for his routine check up, I don't know where you get your info from. This was in England last year. They saw him promptly at the scheduled time (they don't have to overbook because they are not concerned with money money money). His checkup was more thorough than any I have ever had here, and of course there was no bill at the end. If he had needed it, they would have referred him to any specialist he needed, or sent him to the hospital.
I would rather stay here and try to change things to benefit US CITIZENS than give up and leave.
Our fragmented healthcare system is a national disgrace. We cover the poor through Medicaid and hospital emergency rooms, which you and I pay for. We cover the old through Medicare, which you and i pay for. we cover the militaty, which you and I pay for. We cover the politicians, which are our employees, you and I pay for that, too. Then, I pay for Blue Cross Blue Shield, which deducts every single week from my pay, hits me with a large deductible, then only covers 80% of what they say the bill SHOULD be not what it is. Plus there is a lifetime cap on what they would pay if I got cancer for example of MS. Then I also pay medical on my car insurance, as I live in florida. I pay more than the English pay in taxes, and get less coverage. Plus everyone in England is covered, and here there are still 15% of our population of working people who have no health coverage at all! It is a shame and should be corrected!!!! Stop takin gth eside of the greedy insurance companies and HMOs and think of your fellow citizens for a change!

I don't know where you get your information from, yes costs go up, but something like 5% instead of 15% like here. They negotiate prices on drugs and supplies, which keeps costs down. Here the drug companies set their own prices!
