Creationism on rise around the world

Full story: American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS)

Two recent news items report that creationism is on the rise around the world. The first, a survey conducted by a UK-based market research company, asked 11,768 adults from 10 countries if they thought evolutionary theories should be taught in science lessons in schools together with other possible perspectives, such as intelligent design and ...

Imbecilic ignorance and raving fanaticism on the rise around the world.

Well, if I believed in the end times, this more than anything would convince me that they are near. LOTS of stupid people with uncontrolled and uncontrollable religious irrationalities and hatred with their fingers on the buttons and triggers just itching to prove to the "other" fanatics who's might makes right.

Religion appeals to the simple-minded and certainly to those too lazy to apply themselves. The school board of Rio Rancho, a 'suburb' of Albuquerque, actually slipped a creationist/ID friendly curriculum under the radar for two years.

I'm sure there are people here who equate belief with fact. If I believe the world is flat, then it is -- and I'll ignore any and all proof otherwise. Same goes with creationism. The fact that it's utter and complete nonsense doesn't change the mind of creationists any more than the fact that god is complete and utter nonsense will change the minds of believers.

My point however, is that belief is NOT fact, and your mindless disbelief of facts doesn't discount them either. The world never was and never will be flat, no matter what you believe.

The whole reason I got involved in this debate is because the fundamentalist pastor of the local mega-church, his son and some of his followers tried to take over the school board in our community a few years back.

Up until then, I had never really paid much attention to "bible thumpers". I am sorry to say that over the ensuing years I have learned WAY too much about them. Almost NONE of it good.

Surely you don't really believe that there are people who are planning on the "scorched earth" scenario, do you?

For as passionately as some of these fanatics wish and pray for the rapture, the tribulations, the second coming of Christ, armageddon, yes I do.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Cancer

You may not be privy to every little thing that's going on around you, but so what? Crabs can't always be in control, but you don't need to feel insecure, either. Thanks to your electronic devices, you appear to be a little godlike to those who don't have the same access as you do at the moment. Just make sure that you memorise the important stuff in case the system goes down.
