I would find it hard to believe any ferry operator at this time and in this economic situation would step forward without some sort of guarantees or goverment subsidies. As soon as goverment money changes hands I am afraid SA will need to take more goverment programs and funding for other projects and that means more of the same (i.e.. Section 8) stuff. In my opinion it is one of the reasons this town is heading downward. Someone posted a link to a ferry study done in 2006 and it did not look promising for any operator to make a go in SA. Fuel costs, insurance, and other factors made it a bad venture for anyone. I would use it in a heart beast, but I do not see it happening. I think the administration uses it as a feather in their cap to say look at we are trying to do. It is a pipe dream at best. Again, this town needs leadership that knows how to attract viable business ventures that add to the quality of life in SA. Do not see anything like that happeneing now. How about an office of business development in SA? Attract private money with out the federal handcuffs and conditions. Need republican leadership and end the stronghold of democratic machine in SA. It is time for a change and to move into the 21st Century.

How often was the ferry "Starting this spring/summer/fall/....)? They dropped the ball so often ... Would you as a provider not wait until all is actually set? |
