Another drunk driver injury. Legislator's had better get busy before another person dies or is maimed and another family suffers. Sad.

Let's all picture the perfect world you hypocrites desire so badly. Let's assume no one ever again gets in their car drunk and drives again. Thank God, amen, the world is safe again!Things might actually be wonderful for a few weeks. Then someone will be talking on a cellphone while driving. And that person will hit a limo. And a beautiful innocent child will be decapitated. And Newsday will flash her picture on the cover as often as possible...we have to stop these evil cellphone drivers!!! If it's the last thing we do!! They're selfish & stupid...how can you possibly drive and talk on a phone...it's against the law, and it obviously impairs your ability to drive! Lock them up...better yet, just kill these cellphone drivers...they made the choice to drive while talking, and now they have to pay! Far-fetched, right? Go ahead, bash away. Live in your freakin hypocritical world..."How DARE they drink & drive, I would NEVER do that". How many accidents were there last night that we didn't hear about that didn't involve alcohol? Why is "The News" as printed by Newsday and other media outlets always scare-tactic, populist nonsense? Fine...lynch this person for making a bad mistake and injuring innocent people. It's true that there should be consequences to illegally driving drunk and causing harm to others. But please spare me the "Just shoot them" mentality that will inundate these boards, because I promise you that in your lifetime, they'll be coming after you for one of the "freedoms" that you currently enjoy. Commence bashing now.

Between the deer & the drunks, Sound Ave is a very scary road at night, especially on the weekends now that the drunks outnumber the deer out here. Most of the watering holes on the main road have quick access to Sound Ave, so the DWIs try to be clever & take the "back" route, thinking they're less likely to be caught. Trouble is, there's virtually no shoulder on that road & there are a lot of curves. I stay far away from Sound Ave at night. The East End is being inundated. Wish the police would be more of a presence on those side roads that lead to Sound (i.e., Fresh Pond Ave, directly from happy hour at JRs). They'd have a parade of DWIs to choose from.

They should make designated roads just for the drunks. Then they would be more careful watching out for one another.

Just another routine DWI crash on Long Island. My hope is that the victims recover from their injuries...

Most drunks are too self-centered to think of anyone but themselves, though, so your solution wouldn't work. Sound Ave is already a designated DWI route. Problems arise, however, when those pesky trees jump out into the road. Or some unsuspecting sober driver mistakes it for a regular road & drives in his/her own lane.

Richiemagoo wrote: <quoted text> Yep! A polkice state where we have no rights or privacy will solve all of our problems, just like it did in Germany! So let drunks keep killing people .. real good answer. Laws are made to protect the innocent. If people didn't drink & drive there would be no need for the government to step in. I agree with the previous poster about having breathalyzers installed in all vehicles. The thing I would have a problem with is if someone drinking tried to start their car up through the breathalyzer, where a transaction was recorded .. later to be downloaded and used by the government to convict of DWI. If that’s how the system would work, than I completely agree with you and be against this form of legislation.
