People are still losing jobs and losing their homes. To put out more expenses for something that was not charged fees to play is going to be a hard act to sell. What was once a privalage is now a luxury the this community doesn't have the funds to support.

And the thing that kills me is that the students involved in these activities still have to do all this fund raising on top of the activitiy fee that the parents are paying! I'm getting reaaly sick of my child having to sell things and being asked to help out with fundraisers. Some of us have jobs, elderly parents to check in on and younger children to take care of.

Obviously the are lessons to be learned from history if one has the will and capacity to do so. Perhaps 24seven doesn't care to review the histoy of tax increases by the QCSD but those who care about the pay for play charges and budget cuts and tax increases do care. That is what he thread ia about.

In the interest of getting the thread back on topic I am interested in hearing what you think about the fees.

I would love to. Without digging up all kinds of #'s from over the years to demonstrate how things have progressed/digressed financially over time. In layman's terms, it is my opinion that had the QCSD been proactive and, as stated already, kept an eye on and duplicated that which had been successful elsewhere, this "Pay to Play" policy would not be needed. The fund raisers on top of it are salt in the wound. So, I guess my stand here would be that things have been mismanaged over time with an attitude of, "The hell with it, spend and we can always yank it from the sheep". I'm sure there are people who have benefited from this mismanagement, there always are. One only needs to look acroos the street at Richland. It's epidemic and a cure is needed badly. I know how to start. But the Sheep need to turn into Tigers.

Hint: Interjecting facts and opinions that are not what one wants to read, but are not false, inflamatory, or pro-whatever it is that you pretend to represent, are NOT against the rules of this anonymous site. Thanx invisible editor for intervening even though I doubted your existence on line.

Pro-anything is not remotely negative because everyone with a computer can give a heated defense against just such ideas, actions, and items.

Activity fee revenues don't cover much of anything and are a manouver on the part of the QCSD Administration to garner support for increased tax rates. Wise citizens beware of the endless manipulation by the QCSD Admininstration that runs the QCSD Board majority.(It should be the other way around- dontcha think?)

Stern 'Adults' can make for strange compatriots.
Yes, the "Activity Fees" are meaningless in the scope of the QCSD budget. They are a political ploy to garner support from the most volunerable for the next (whopping) tax increase proposals that in the end will go towards the next teacher contract expenses.

Ain't it grand that the QCSD Administrators the QCSD Board left to negotiate the next contract will get the same perks they negotiate for others, for themselves---with a multiplier?

So glad you have come around to agree.
Activity fees are indeed a ploy by th QCSD Administration to garner support for increased taxes.Perhaps you don't remember the color "warnings" from the QCSD Administration" Not the QCSD Board.
You understand.
You get it.
