Get a job. Stop being a criminal...and then you will realize cops are not the "enemy".
The "pigs" never had to put me or my loved ones in jail. Sorry that you can't say the same.
By the way...How many kids do you have? I just want to know where my tax dollars are going.
To these new Officers...Thank you!

DRUGS MUST BE GREAT IN KOREA!!!The next wave will be less than 20 and on't happen for 5 yrs. Secondly, when the city advertises at the Lil Apple market and Wawa; what type of candidate do you think they are going to get??? As far as the idea for retirement, that won't fly either. A guy puts in almost 30 yrs and is supposed to walk away with no medical????YEAH RIGHT!!!<quoted text>
Every other person who starts working between age 18 and 22 who retires at 48 to 52. They have to go get another job or PURCHASE medical policy until they reach Medicare eligibility age. 30 years, we had guys walking out of APD with as litte as 11 years of service and in their 30s.

I don't think you fully understand the concept that there will be other retirement eligible officer other than the 20 who have enrollment into DROP and that they and the 20 or so that are in DROP are more than free to retire at any time.

How prepared are they for that?

Additionally, I can for residency requirement within 1 year of accepting ALL employment with City of Allentown. This tends to be the standard languge across the country for municipalities that implement such ordinances. It does not mean that you cannot recruit from anywhere in the United States to attract the best candidate. It only means that upon hiring, you have 1 year to declare an address for taxes, voting and driver's licensure that you are "officially" a resident of the municipality that you work in. I would call that an alignment of interests and good for the community.

I feel that a residency requirment restricts freedom, if I want to commute for 40 minutes then I should be able to. Should we now make every employee in the US a resident of the location they work at? you work in Newark you have to live in Newark? you work for a firm in NY you have to live in the city? if it is done for one job then they should do it for all!

I think they are talking about the people that work for the city of allentown as police officers are ther to protect and serve the community they work for, and if they don't live here they will always be comming to work blind. anyone that dosen't see this as a plus is part of the allentown political machine to ruin!

Are you out of your mind "comment?" go risk your life and expect what you propose. What you propose is diffrent then the entire country and would attract NO qualified candidates.
