Hard to believe WFMZ had the resources to outbid ESPN and Versus for the broadcast rights to this thing. Good job.

I think if ESPN or Versus really wanted to broadcast the race they would have. Seeing as it is a local race they probably didn't even consider airing it. No offense to WFMZ but if a cable network wanted to show the race they would have had the resources to outbid WFMZ anyday.

Well I am not getting super excited yet. I will watch the race and then if it continues to come back to the area the for years to come then I will be a little more excited.

Univest Grand Prix is a well run bike race. John Eustice is the promoter and does an excellent job laying out the course, taking care of athletes and spectators alike. Glad to see the race is coming to our back door. I used to travel to Souderton every year to participate in the charity ride before the race...a very cool idea. Hope they have something like that here.

That's the spirit! Don't really support it, at first. Wait a few years. Then, when it fails to return due to lack of support, you can comment about how crappy things are in downtown Allentown and how it's not worth your time to attend/support any events that come to town.

Let's see the real Allentown, let them race through the scummy trash filled inner city. Let them ride up or down the streets from 6th to 11th. IT would be comical to watch them have to dodge the cars that suddenly dbl park so they can talk, or blow the horn to pick someone up, when there is a parking space not 15 feet in front of them. Have some guts and show the real Allentown, not the phoney one you will.

It wasn't lack of support that killed Reading's bike race this year. You can blame the sponsors and the economy for that. It's sort of hard to get excited about this one when another one was just ripped out from under you after you were there to support it.

I am not saying I wont support. I will attend just like I did last year but if this one returns for years to come then I will become more and more excited as it continues to grow.

I don't think I could take the excitement of a bicycle race. With all the rain we've had, I have to watch my heart rate just watching the grass growing.
