Stimulus funds spare teacher layoffs

President Barack Obama's stimulus plan spared tens of thousands of teachers from losing their jobs, state officials said Monday amid a nationwide effort to calculate the effect of Washington's $787 billion recovery package.

That's what happens when you elect a college professor who has never so much as run a hot dog stand to be your leader. What happens next year where there is no stimulus money to cover the public employees salaries, and the taxe base is even lower because there was nothing done to support the private sector? Print more money?

Building roads once stimulated the ecomony back when the infrastructure wasn't there. Repaving existing roads isn't going to do anything. I can't believe the effing morons think that the government can actually spend its way to prosperity. It has never worked and it never will.

Biggest BULL$HIT story I've heard since January '09. Like they were going to close down schools, I imagine, permanently. Saved or CREATED teaching jobs. How many of these teaching jobs were newly created jobs?
