Hmmm, I find that strange that the NJ State Prosecutor would know this information... Now your attacking me? I'm an "ignorant dolt". Look man, you should expect people are going to be confused and will challenge your source, that's what a lawyer would do if you were at court. Look I’m no doctor my friend, but what medical credentials do you to prove that Dr. Baden is wrong? Are you 100% positive that Dr. Baden was "bought-and-paid-for "? Yes it does sound strange to me. You know for a fact that Dr. Baden did not want to come back and was "ordered" by the court to appear for the second trial? Are you trying to slander Dr. Michael Baden? Thinking about contacting Dr. Baden’s Office to let him know that he is being accused by Mr. Chavez of being bribed by Mr. Knutsen and his Lawyer. Love to hear his side of the story.
I apologize for the name calling first and foremost. I'm just so frustrated with the few people who know none of the facts and are fabricating stories to suit the obviously guilty. Second I was there in court when that price was quoted by the state prosecutor. Dr. baden even said he gave them a discount because of a prior affiliation with that beast's lawyer. Isn't that to be considered a conflict of interest? Not trying to "slander" anyone. That information was made privy to us by the NJS courts. I never said nor inferred that he was "bribed", simply stating what was said during the trials. Google the case dockets ...some of them are out there. I really don't think Dr. baden would like those transcripts to be regurgitated. I'm sure he just wants to be as distanced from this case as much as possible.

efendant is found guilty of one count of child endangerment
BY JENNIFER AMATO & MADELLINE PIZARRO Staff Writers

Robert Knutsen was found not guilty of manslaughter in the death of a 3- year-old North Brunswick boy in state Superior Court, New Brunswick, on Friday.

Nikolas Chavez Nikolas Chavez Knutsen, 32, of Middletown and formerly of North Brunswick, was found not guilty of both aggravated and reckless manslaughter and one count of endangering the welfare of the child for inflicting physical harm on Nikolas Chavez, his fiancée's son and his own godson, who died Nov. 30, 2005.

However, Knutsen was found guilty of one count of child endangerment for failing to provide proper medical attention, because he waited about 15 minutes before calling police after the child had a seizure that morning, according to the 911 tapes played during the three-week trial that began Sept. 23. Knutsen lived with Nikolas and the child's mother in an apartment in North Brunswick at the time of the child's death.

The case was being retried from last year, which ended in a mistrial because of a hung jury on the aggravated manslaughter charge.

"Obviously we're very pleased, and the Knutsen family is very pleased, with the jury's determination on aggravated manslaughter as well as reckless manslaughter," said defense attorney Greg Gargulinski. "Mr. Knutsen is pleased he had a very attentive jury that listened, and a smart jury, and he is pleased he has been acquitted of the two most serious crimes in the penal code. He maintains his innocence and believes he sought medical attention in an appropriate period of time and he did everything he could to save this child's life."

Knutsen's $250,000 bail was revoked by Superior Court Judge Dennis Nieves, and he was arrested after the trial, pending his sentencing on Jan. 6, 2009. He faces five to 10 years in prison. However, Gargulinski said that he and Robert Honecker, his cocounsel, plan to file a motion to seek to overturn the child endangerment charge, and, if necessary, will file an appeal.

"I'm disappointed, but for the family there is closure and the defendant is incarcerated, found guilty on a second-degree charge," Assistant Middlesex County Prosecutor Marcia Silva said.

During the trial, the state rested highly on the testimony of Middlesex County Medical Examiner Frederick DiCarlo, who said the child died from blunt force trauma

injuries less than an hour before the 911 call was made, in a homicide that could only be attributed to Knutsen because he was the only person with Nikolas that morning. DiCarlo said the toddler suffered from a broken back and internal bleeding from injuries to his back and abdomen. However, the
defense brought in Michael Baden, the chief medical examiner for the New York State Police and a regular on the HBO show "Autopsy," who agreed that although the injuries were inflicted and were homicidal, they could have occurred one or two nights before.

"In my opinion the back injury occurred after eating at his grandmother's [on Tuesday night]," Baden said, adding that the child's internal bleeding, which caused onethird of his blood to remain in his abdomen the following morning, could have occurred overnight.

Baden also said that since Nikolas was being evaluated for a developmental delay, "I have the impression reading [his] records he didn't respond to pain the way other children might. A child would say,'Mommy it hurts me.'

"If he has difficulty explaining things, he might have difficulty saying that."

This case is already being looked at. I would post the actual case number that it was assigned, but I'm not about to compromise the investigation. You will not find this investigation of my Nikolas' case in the papers because it has nothing to do with the public anymore. I took it up to the top of New Jersey government. These orders to further investigate my son's case came straight from the desk of Governor Chris Christie. Uhhhh oh, no sold-my-soul lawyer can do a damned thing about it! Nonetheless, let's keep pushing.
Thank you and much love and thanks to you all! THE GUILTY WILL BE PUNISHED, THE LAW IS COMING! YOU WERE NOT CHARGED WITH MURDER YET YOU EVIL BEAST, SO DOUBLE JEOPARDY IS NOT APPLICABLE! There's your "checkmate"..haters

Like I SAID in my other post, Nick may not have been the perfect parent......Are any of you? I really doubt it!! I know I am not, by a long shot. We ALL make mistakes, that's part of being human!! The death of an innocent child deserves justice. My kids (all five) have fallen in bathtubs MANY times and not one of them broke their back, let alone in two places!! Some people on here make me sick!! Telling him to "let it go" and "move on". Could you if it was your child?? No way I could!!!

I've been following and reading through this topic and something that caught my attention was that Mr. Chavez, may justice come to him... Had issues with paying for child support, so I did some of my own research and discovered that Mr. Chavez has a nice rap sheet going back to 1994.It appears to be he has an open case which he owes the amount of $4830.00! I hope this person is not a dead beat dad...

FACT: Child support was paid in full thank you very much! Do your research a bit closer. "Quite a rap sheet"!? Too much TV for this one. You might want to chill with the "Law and Order".

I said that I wouldn't come back here, but I wasn't about to let this one pass. Call whomever you must to find out your "facts" are in fact simply not true.
