I am looking for a good vet that doesn't charge an arm and leg for everything and one that will answer my calls if there is an emergency. We raise dogs and getting pretty tired of driving all the way back to Adair County to our Vet there.
We currently use Janice Coffey in Columbia and she is an awesome vet, she keeps the cost low and the quality high, however she is not great at returning emergency calls.

why do you even need a vet...if there is a wound on ur dog they will tell you that you have to buy some 100 dollar medicine for it to go away when it heals on its own..haha

I was thinking of Midway since it is the closest to us. Are there prices reasonable or have you ever compared them to anyone else? Also, have you ever had to call them in on the weekend?

From my experience with all vet hospitals here in Somerset, Dr Vernon Hall at Animal Care Center is by far the best!!!! He really cares about animals and he is very intelligent! Dr Hall will do whatever he can to get to the bottom of whatever is going on with your cat/dog. I went to Midway only twice and WILL NEVER EVER RETURN!!! Dr Danny Mullins could care less about animals and Dr Bruce Jasper is a Complete Snob!! I've also heard others complain about Midway!!! I am an animal lover and want only the Best Care Possible. Please take my advice and DO NOT go to Midway. Also, Dr Burkett at Somerset Animal Hospital is very good too!! Dr Burkett is a very kind person and Loves animals. He will do what he can to get to the bottom of your cat/dog problem.

ANIMAL CARE CENTER IS EXCELLENT AT RETURNING EMERGENCY PHONE CALLS!!! AFTER YOU MAKE THE CALL, THEY WILL CALL YOU RIGHT BACK AND THEN WHICH EVER DOCTOR IS ON CALL WILL THEN MEET YOU AT THE CLINIC RIGHT AFTER YOU GET OFF THE PHONE. THEY WILL ALSO PERFORM WHATEVER TEST NEEDS TO BE PERFORMED TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF WHATEVER IS GOING ON WITH YOUR CAT/DOG. FROM MY OWN AND OTHERS EXPERIENCE, MIDWAY WANTS TO WAIT TILL "BUSINESS HOURS" TO PERFORM TESTS. THEY'LL STABILIZE THE ANIMAL, YET WANT TO WAIT TILL "BUSINESS HOURS" TO PERFORM TESTS. TRUST ME BECAUSE I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE. DO NOT GO TO MIDWAY!!! ANIMAL CARE CENTER IS THE BEST FOR A CRITICAL SITUATION!!!! I'VE BEEN GOING TO ANIMAL CARE CENTER FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS!

Midway is the Worst!!!! That's the only vet hospital this individual has been to and I've been to all the vet hospitals here in Somerset. Animal Care Center is the Best! Also, there is a New vet hospital here in town called, "Lake Cumberland Animal Hospital" and Dr Cynthia Donavan is very good too. Dr Donavan and her husband Dr Eric Greenwell are Great from what I've heard. And yes, I've met both of them and I was impressed. Their vet clinic is right behind McDonald's North on Hwy 27.

The price ranges really don't vary that much with our "4 vet clinics" here in Somerset. However, I would highly suggest getting a "Care Credit Card". A "Care Credit Card" allows you to make monthly payments on your bill with absolutely No interest. The only way they can charge you interest is if you are Late on sending in your monthly payment. Animal Care Center offers it.

Thanks for all of the advice. It sounds like Animal Care Center is the place to go. I have never heard of the Care Credit Card but I plan on looking into it. We keep a savings account that is just used for our pet costs whether it is food, grooming, shelter or vet needs, but one never knows when that could be easily depleted by a couple of major vet bills.
Does anyone know when the next Rabies clinic will be? We give our dogs all their shots and wormings ourselves but we take them to the vet for their Rabies vac.

Animal Care Center holds "Rabies Clinics" yet I'm not sure when. Call Animal Care Center and they could probably let you know when the next one is. Their number is in the phone book.

ANY KIND OF MEDICATION USED TODAY ONLY REDUCES OR ELIMINATES THE SYMPTOMS. MEDS "DO NOT" CURE SICKNESS OR DISEASE. IN OTHER WORDS, MEDS DO NOT GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. HERE IS A COUPLE OF WEBSITES TO GET TO THE ROOT OF YOUR PET'S PROBLEM: PlanktonWebsite.com

I'm sorry but you are insane, I hear Dr. Zusman can help you with medication for your insanity.
Dr Danny Mullins, will get out of bed in the middle of the night to help an animal, and DR Burkett or what ever his name is is a THIEF.
Midway has seen all of my pets for years, as well as my family's and even a few of my friends.
Call Doctor Zusman on Mondays he will help you with your warped thinking.

I agree. Midway is the best. I've got 4 cats and 1 dog. I like Dr. David Mullins the best. They've come in after hours and on Sundays for me. My cat just had a lump and he checked it out and it was a fat deposit so he didn't have to operate. BUT, he had already checked his schedule to work him in for surgery for the next day if needed. If he was out for money, he would've done the operation anyway. All of the vets there are wonderful. Never had a bad experience yet. I think the posts downing Midway all came from the same person, someone with a grudge or someone who works at the other vet's.

I swear by Frontline Plus. I order it through www.petsuppliesnet.com for about half the price as anywhere else. If they've got fleas really bad, there's a pill you can get that will kill all of the fleas that are on them at that time. I've gotten it at Midway before for strays that I've adopted that are just infested.
