What else could be done at this point? It was a consequence forced by the Republican Party's obstructionism.

The Republican leadership has totally distroyed the American two-party system. It's no longer a system of check and balance, it's now used by them as a tool solely to make the Government not function. They have used the two-party system to deliberately undermine the Government in hopes it will win elections.

Look at their history over the last two years. The Republicans in Congress are deliberately 'sabotaging' our own Government thinking it will win elections, at the expense of suffering Americans and our economy. For two years they have attempted to stop and block anything which could help America.

If you don't think so .....

"For the next two years, we can’t let you (Obama/Biden) succeed in anything. That’s our ticket to coming back."
-- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Republican)

If anyone doesn't believe the sequester is more of the same of what the Republican leadership has been doing for two years. They have admitted to it.

“I think Friday will be an important day that shows we’re finally willing to stand and fight for conservative principles and force Washington to start living within its means. And that will be a big victory.”
-- Steve Scalise, Republican Louisiana Representative and chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee

Catch the 'we are' and 'force Washington' part? Kinda contradicts the claim that it's President Obama's doing. Again, just look at the Republican Party's deliberate obstructionism over the last two years.

Another important repeat of what has been taking place. Note that the sequester and cuts from it will affect lower middle-class and low-income families the most, and not the rich. And the Republicans think that's a big victory? After all, it's only the '47 percent' and people like the elderly who will suffer, right?

Remember this in the next elections for Congress (both national and state Legislatures) and President.

I can not believe people now days are hooked on one party. With all the information we are able to gather.
This sequester is all about 85 billion dollars.
As of last week we are giving the Syrian 60 m
billion. And this weekend we are giving the Egyptian brotherhood a quarter mil.
Gee I wonder where the cuts should start?
obama promised to hurt the American people with these cuts, just to show us he can.He is having a temper tantrum. He alone picks where to cut.

I'm in favor of the sequester. IMO, it doesn't go far enough. It deals with the rate of spending, not actual spending cuts. In the sequester, everyone gets screwed, not just your party but both parties. Both parties must give up something, what could be more fairer than that?
I guess that's assuming that spending like a drunken sailor must be brought in check and sometimes I'm not completely convinced of that. I've heard this crap for too many years and we still keep on spending like Greece and Iceland. Maybe someday the EU will bail us out.

545.....545.....

310,000,000......310,000,000

Think about those numbers.

545 people are in Washington, making decisions that affect 310,000,000 people....who sent them there. I laugh my hind end off every time I see someone trying to claim that one party is to blame, when it's ALL 545 people's fault. Number one, they should put their partisan line to the side and work to save our country instead of all this petty bickering like little school girls....but I digress.

545 people, who, if they worked in the private sector with this kind of track record, would be sh*t canned in a heartbeat! So, why does 310,000,000 people with the authority to remove these clowns allow this to continue?(assuming votes really count these days) Why are you guys sending the wolf back into the hen house every election?

REMOVE ALL INCUMBENTS.....put in candidates who refuse corporate bribes......or "campaign donations" as they're called in politics......vote for different parties, get a REAL representation OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, and BY THE PEOPLE. Or......just keep sending these FAILURES who are constantly looking for someone to blame back for more.....sh*t, it's working fine for you right now, isn't it? PPPPPFFFFFFFFTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!

If these bozos were working along side you, or for you, you would fire them NOW, would you not? So, why in the hell do you keep promoting them every election cycle? I just don't get it!

If government cuts are so easy to make why didn't the GOP make them? They were in office for 8 years. This sequester is just more anti Obama c**p by the GOP.

Jenny, you seem to be a smart girl and I wouldn't argue with you about how sorry republicans are.
But, You need to realize that the dems are no better.
You'd make a good independent, if you could wake up to democrat self interest.
They're using these emotionally charged issues to manipulate you.

Exactly right, same as Republicans use religion and the emotionally charged issues to manipulate their minions.

I'm sorry.I don't know what I was thinking.
How can they call SS and medicare an entitlement? To me it is an insurance,we(working people) have paid into it.It is no different than unemployment insurance,we all paid into it.I am happy to say I was never in a situation to draw unemployment.
I have paid SS since I was 16 years old.
The first thing our fearless leaders talk about,is cut SS,and medicare. Why not cut welfare?
I'm being unrealistic again,I guess.

Speaking of cutting, the sequestor was all about forced spending cuts, ACROSS THE BOARD. I take that as meaning everything associated with government spending.
Notice no one's talking about cutting House salaries and bennies. That's where I would start.
