the one up from buck creek bridge in stab is fun...it used to be called satans cave , there used to be clay statues and carvings in one of the back rooms (which is as far as i ever got at 15 yrs old) it gets really warm in there , I haven't been in years though, let me know if it's still open.

I got a question why is it called splunking. Why not caving. Or better yet why is it not called crawling in the dirt in the dark.

There is a huge cave off of Piney Grove rd (White Lily) You turn on the dirt road behind Piney Grove Baptist church. You have to follow the rd all the way up, once you reach the clearing, cross the field, go through the woods to the left. I have heard that this is private property now so you might want to check on that. We used to camp out there when we were kids. Soryy for the redneck directions!
yea its quite the good cave to go to. ive been there one time but yea i pretty sure its private propetry now

better be prepared for water, you'll stumble into, or wade through it one way or another! advice: dont go under the crawl space at the very end unless you can absolutley get through with plenty of space...its harder to get out than go in... you'll know because you have to crawl for a while on a seemingly huge rock, then you'll stand up and no way to go but under...either go back, or know that you can get back through! Flashlights and candles are needed... no telling how many broke noses and twisted ankles have happend here...

Caves are very fun and adventourous, but you have to be serious and not be goofing off or you may end up not walking out. Having the correct equipment is a big plus, such as a hard hat, headlamp, knee pads, elbow pads, snacks, and definately water!!

Does anyone know of all the locations and numbers of all 27 train tunnels on the old CNO&TP lines? I'm getting mixed messages but I *believe* that the ones off cedar grove are #3 and #4 and the one in sloans is #5... and has anyone been to the one that was daylighted ( I think #6)?

Thanks.

Oh.. word of warning about the Strawberry cave, there is another cave below that bluff across the road, not sure if it connects but I have reason to believe something big is living in there. I have seen entire cow carcasses drug into that cavern and partially eaten. Could be coyotes but the people (including myself) have spotted a big black cat in the area. What I saw was huge, like cougar but black. Didn't get a good look cos I was bookin' it on horse back.

There has been a black cat spotted out in that area a few years back...

Nope, none of my friends feels that its safe to attempt it, me on the other hand would love to try it. The only entrances I have been in & out of is the Greenhouse, Minton Hollow, & im not sure what the other one is called but its about a 25-30ft tunnel you have to climb up, and it comes out behind the old Ashland gas station! Have you ever took the trip from Minton Hollow to the Greenhouse!?
