These are differrent markets. The Kentucky Proud Market is held at Somerset Mall. And as a Kentucky Proud Market, all Kentucky Proud products, including wine, are allowed to be sold as long as the territory in which the market is held is wet, i.e. Somerset.
Yep...pretty much right. According to the poorly wriiten KRS.

AGAIN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. These are two different markets! The market on 27 is a Kentucky Proud Market on private land. Furthermore, the Kentucky Proud Market allows the sell of all Kentuckty Proud Products at any Kentucky Proud Market in the state! This includes wine, as long as the territory in which the market is held is wet, i.e. Somerset!
For the sake of TRUTH and all the dangers that come with misinformation, do yourslef a favor and research the facts.
And if this dosn't matter to you in the least, the blatant abuse of power by an elected official should.
Perhaps you should read the ENTIRE thread. Early on I asked what the OP was talking about as several posts had been deleted. I also further explained that I do not subscribe to the C-J and hadn't read any reporting on the subject. Thus, the request for info.
If the Farmers Market in question is in fact the one at Somerset Mall and is in the City...AND according to KY State Law it is legal for wineries to sell anywhere within a "wet" area then, the City (Mayor) doesn't have legal basis for trying to deny anyone such right. Any attempt to restrict such right would undoubtly (and rightly) be met with legal action.
Don't get your panties in a wad over a simple misunderstanding. Good grief!

Oh, I did. And I also gave you the correct information to clarify your misunderstanding. Your welcome.

Forget it unless you have a legitimate business.
if I were a legitimate business I would have a business license issued by the city allowing me to sell liquor in the city(and pay taxes). like everyone else and what fun would that be.

No one else needs a business license to sell their farm's produce at the Farmers Market, why should locally made wine be any different?

Which winery is this anyway? I've only tried one local brand, Cedar Creek, it was ok.'course I got the sweet stuff for my lady and I'm more a dry wine guy.

the city may or may not have a ordinance pertaining to farm produce being sold in the city limits.but they do have and alcohol ordinance that says everyone selling alcohol has to have a license. I didn't have se any exemptions in it for farmers.

Which winery is this? Does any of the local liquor stores stock it?

I'd like to pick up a few bottles next time I'm out.

Cool, thanks.

A little pricey for me, so I might just get a bottle. I prefer that <$10 stuff, which really you can find some good wine at that price point.

Still would like to try it out though. Seems they could make a deal with some of the restaurants to serve it.

I'm pretty close to Wayne county, might just run down that way one day soon and check out the winery.

They wine club seems like a good deal. I notice they have special events including some live music listed on their site as well.

Still have May 4th listed at Farmers Market. Good for them, they shouldn't be bullied if they're within the law.

Girdler hasn't spent any time in prison. At least not yet. Wonder how much Wake stole from the battlefield before he flew the coop?

Oh man, that's great. On the Facebook page for Lake Cumberland Winery for anyone wanting to check it out.

Mayor really stepped in it with his response during the meeting. Threatening to arrest them for bootlegging? Saying he doesn't care what the law says?

I'm glad to know they weren't cowed and showed up ready to sell their locally-produced wine!

Anything Norris wake says is a boldfaced lie unless he can think of a bigger lie to tell, in which case it will be an even bigger boldface lie which will supersede the previous Simple boldfaced lie.

Wake is contributing to the community in many ways. He is not a criminal. If he was, and I know he does have a past, is there a law that says a person cannot start fresh and be rehabilitated? People are too hard on him, given that he is now a fine citizen. Those writing deroagatlory things about him do not know him.

The term is baldfaced.

Now, since he posted it on his Facebook and he was a lawyer, I'm sure he knows saying someone said something they didn't say can constitute libel.

Plus, the story just has the ring of truth to it. Why else would their be a commotion about it? The city attorney and the ABC guy said okay, the mayor tried to veto them. Didn't work.

Did all go smooth down at the market today?
