From The Thursday (01/07/10) Lex. Herald Leader:

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday night in a traffic accident in Pulaski County.

Ricky Tucker, 49, of Bronston, was walking at about 11 p.m. in the westbound lane of Ky. 90 about six miles south of Somerset when he was hit by a 1993 Toyota pick-up truck driven by Tabitha Bowman, 40, of Monticello, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.

Tucker was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the Pulaski County coroner.

The accident is still under investigation.

Is that the cause for all the ambulances passing though ferguson last night? Or is that a different accident. Anyhow, For the family of Ricky Turner, May god be with you! Im so sorry for your loss.

This is so sad. It seems we are loosing alot of residents due to negligence or ignorance. If people would slow down and pay attention to what is going on around them, rather then their cell phones, radio, etc there would be alot less accidents involving vehicles. Prayer going out for both families.

People shouldn't be walking in the middle of the road either, especially at 11 pm. As you can see it says he was walking in the westbound lane not beside it or on the side of the road.

I agree cell phones should be banned while a person is driving because I've seen countless almost accidents because people are paying more attention to who they are talking to instead of what they are facing on the road. But, when you are driving you don't expect people to be walking in the lane and you can come upon them not expecting that person being there. Especially at 11 pm.

As for banning cell phones, I am from MI and cell phones are banned while driving. You can be pulled over by police officers and ticketed for cell phone usage while driving.

Regardless of where he was walking, it is our responsiblilty as a driver to have control of our vehicle at all times and be aware and alert as to what is around us. It does not say if she was driving in the westbound or eastbound lane. That would be interesting to know. I think it is ridiculous that so many people are being injured/killed because of peoples ability to pay attention to what is around them. Negligence I think!

Im hate that someone got killed but... He was walking down the west bound lane and last I checked they're are shoulders on the roads down there on 90. Also on thing that pisses me off is when you are driving down the road and you have people walkin or excercising or even riding there bicycle in the middle of the road!!! Come on seriously get out of the damn road cause sooner or later you will get run over. Seriously I understand why you are in the road if there is a ditch or extremely tall grass along the road. But 90% of the time there is a shoulder or emergency lane along the road and they are riding a damn bicycle down the road. Do they not bicycles to ride in the dirt anymore?

I'd assume she would be going toward Monticello since she was from there. I still say if he was in the road she probably run upon him before she had time to react. It was 11 pm and he probably didn't have any reflections on his shoes to let people know he was walking. Afterall, the road is made for drivers and he shouldn't have been in the road. The speed limit is 55 mph. and you can come upon on a person fast if they have nothing on them to let you know they are there. Why don't we say he should have been aware of his surroundings also. Being aware of your surroundings at 11 pm is pretty hard as dark as it was last night or any other night for that matter. I dare say you wouldn't have been any more aware of the surroundings last night than she was. It was an accident , yes, preventable if he hadn't been in the road.

Since he was walking in the road after dark he should have been able to see a car was coming and to get out of the road,I'm guessing there was a reason he was in the road after dark and couldn't see a car coming.

That is true. How could he not hear or see a car coming? Same way with people who get hit by trains while walking down the tracks.

Last time I drove on 90 West I don't recall seeing a sidewalk in the middle of the highway. Considering the time of night with darkness the driver never seen Mr. Tucker. Why ones walking in the middle of the highway and would'nt hear or see head light would lead me to believe that Mr. Tucker was'nt of sound mind being drug, achohol, or medical related to his ability not to see car coming or being in the road in the first place. Of course once facts are presented on his toxic report truth will be certain. Of course even with fact theirs those that don't have a clue. God bless Mr. Tucker and deepest requards for his family. But sometime were responsible for our own demise

Try back at the beach. They have people who come to live there from all over the world. Russians are the worse for riding their bikes and assuming they have the ride of way everywhere. They do not even look at intersections while riding. They just zoom through them. Young teen russian girls and guys riding their bikes all over. When an ave. meets the main road it is a constant battle to ensure you do not run over one of them. I have known of a few of them being knocked off their bikes by cars and trucks. I guess in Russia they must have different rules while riding a bike or something. Pray for this man and his family and the family of the one who hit him....Good Luck

On WLEX, they reported the victim as Ricky Turner. Does anyone know if it was indeed Turner and not Tucker?
