Anybody Have Straight Talk Home Phone

Can they import your home phone number if you owe that phone company a huge bill and did not pay it and they disconnected you? I know the phone number has not been given to anyone else because when I call it - it says it's not in service. Could that be the reason alot of people are having trouble importing their old phone numbers maybe? Just wondering because if so I'll just get a new number, It's not worth all that hassle.

Just wondering if anybody has this new form of home phone from Straight Talk and how do you like it and what kind of service you getting? I have the cell phone thru Str8 Talk and it is great, home phone is a small box you buy for $99, works on a GPS chip inside, no internet needed and you can keep your same number and its only $15 amonth unlimited local and long distance calling, tired of Time Warner raping monthy for a phone and internet and cable, if i do away with there phone will save me $30 mnth, any input would be appreciated,
I purchased a unit from straight talk, had problems from the start, they have a very lousy customer service. You cannot talk to anyone without going through a series prompts and then if you do get someone to talk to you cannot understand them and they don't seem to know how to solve the problem they continually pass you on to someone else you can't understand. I finally packed it up and sent it back to straight talk. I am going to write to Wal-Mart for supporting such a incompetent company, they need to do a little more research.

I purchased the home phone system from straight talk and went through the process of activating it, when calling friends they all said my conversation was garbled and were unable to understand all of my conversation. I made several calls to customer service and having to go through many prompts to get someone to talk to you could not understand them as they spoke very broken english, they would just keep transferring you to another department, I finally gave up and packaged the unit up and shipped it back costing me shipping charges plus the $15.00 card that they sent with the unit, very costly experience.

I love mine. Works great, switchover was flawless for me. Works on Verizon but my Straight Talk cell phone works on Verizon too so I'm very pleased. I highly recommend!
Brenda, What about internet modems? Can you plug the internet to the box? Do I have to have a box in each room if I want extra phones? Thank you Brenda.

I really wanted to get this phone, l don't want to take a chance on loosing my old phone number. I will try Verizon. If it is only 5 dollars more,
That is still a deal vs ATT. The contract doesn't matter, l have paid ATT for 20 yrs.

OOMA is basically the same as Magic Jack. Uses the internet so if your internet goes down, you lose phone service. I have Magic Jack for home and mobile if internet goes down. Only complaint about MJ is that I can't forward the phone to someplace else if I am going to be away for a bit.

No. You can't move a phone number over when it's not working.

We purchased the unit at Wal-Mart which said that the first month was free (not so)! After 2:45 on the phone trying to set up the service with 2 individiuals that I COULD NOT understand (Nightmare) we FINALLY have service. The service is OK - the volume goes down from time to time and it has gone out once but as a back up it's ok. Other than probably some of the WORST customer service I have ever received it's ok but I would not use this as my primary phone.

OOMA is not the same! It requires an internet service connection while ST is based on cellular signal. That's the beauty of ST over POTS (and maybe it's curse). As long as you have good signal strength somewhere in your home you can set up your cordless phones and get the same features I pay Verizon (wired)$60 a month for.

Sounds like you should set up ST & use it awhile before removing your wired phone. Then check with ST to be sure your old phone # can be transferred (and whether or not) you can understand the service reps.

Hello,StraghtTalk is a product of Trac-Phone but actually ueses At&T and Verizon's towers!:)
Just for helpful knowledge, CDMA-v in the corner means the phone is working off of Verizon towers and is a Verizon `set` phone.

Bought one for me and one for my dad......Mine was working within an hour. I love it. Dad was porting from AT&T.......3 days later, He can only make local calls, no incoming and no long distance. Spent 3.5 hours on the phone with the Morons from Tracfone/Straight Talk. They speak broken English at best and can't grasp what you are trying to tell them. To make a long story short they tell me it's my phone.....Wrong !!!!! It worked fine before the attempted port. I can unhook it from the box and it still works with AT&T........Called AT&T and of course their offices were closed......Since it can't be programmed, AT&T has not completed the port. To say I'm pissed....Would be the understatement of the millennium !!!!!!

Bought 3 units, I set each up with different area codes. I am a Child Support Investigator and travel the U.S. I use one for home, one for my office and one as a travel unit. I have all three forwarded to my cell phone. Bottom Line they work great. Especially the one in my office. It works best as my office is on the 35th floor of a high rise. I use my fax machine to send and it works fine. I do not recieve on the machine by choice. The 3rd unit works great on the road. I use it at truck stops and from hotel rooms. I have to Dial 9 to get out but I save a ton of $ on cellphones. I went from carring 6 down to 2 and both of those are IPhones on H2o with no contracts. I hope straight talk comes up with cheap Internet !!!!!!!!!

You must have a computer connection for OOMA but you do NOT need a computer for Straight Talk.

I bought a straight talk box for 99.00 It has provided excellent service. straight talk rep are very polite and very helpful. after reading some of the negative comments i was kind of afraid to purchase the box. ( that might have been the intent) neverthless, I purchase the equipment and have been very satified with it you are not charge for 411 calls, unlimited local and long distance callls. i highly recommend straight talk to anyone.

I have Straight Talk home phone service and it's great. The quality is awesome and will only get better as Verizon adds even more cell towers. And for the price you can't beat it. I was so happy to get AT&T out of my life. They are such creepy weirdos. I mean come on guys $45 per month with AT&T vs $15 per month with Straight Talk... It was a no brainer!!!

Received the unit in 2 days, took 2 minutes to hook up and activate .... Good clear service, no drop calls, the I'd only shows a number but holds 99 phone no in storage. I have 2 four cordless units plugged in so I have 8 usable phones all o er the house incd my bathrooms. Being disabled and I fall a lot, I'm now able to have a phone in every room to call for help if needed. Didn't have to place it near any windows. Plugged it into the router and done! Took them 1 hour to port my number. Super service. Have had their cell units for 8 years now, love it!!!!!!
