I recently dealt with this place. Talked to one of the sales men on the phone about a pistol they had in stock. I informed him I was at work and I couldn't leave and make it up there until 4:30 or 5. He told me no big deal they would hold the gun for me until then. Which was shocking but nice. I met with a guy later that evening and sold one of my other guns to make enough money to go purchae the one dans had on hold. When I got there the salesman told me 15 mins after speaking with me he sold it and as he was selling he thought of me. Dirtly business!

Why would you be upset if it was sold? They had a buying customer in the store with money in hand.

Couldn't go get it until 4:30 or 5:00, but YOU admit that "later that evening" you sold your gun to buy his....maybe you didn't get there until the NEXT day and the dude had to make his sale. You even said yourself that it was shocking that he said he would hold it.....maybe he didn't mean he would hold it forever.

Are you talking about a Kimber they had in stock?if so then you just got lucky.I am the one who bought the Kimber and i sold a few of my guns to get it.Turns out that the kimber had troubles and was hanging up on me ever other mag.
I paid full retail price for a used kimber. Then had to pay a gunsmith to fix the problem.so if you are talking about the kimber you just got lucky by not buying it.

I also had them to hold it for me if its the same gun. They said they would hold it for one hour is all they would do for me.i walked in and gave them 800 cash money for the pistol.
If i has to do over it really wasnt there fault that i didnt look the gun up becouse it was retail a used gun and it didnt have box or papers no take down tool nothing. You just got luck if this was tge Kimber.

Go back and read your post.First you paid retail. The gun jammed and the release did not work. Then you say you paid $800.00 in the same post you say you paid &750.00
It's not going to bite me I know guns, and check things out before I buy. Then we revert to name calling. How sad.Oh by the way my life is great.
The next time you want to get ripped off on a gun let me know,I have a few I could part with for a price.Have a great day
If the price is that close,BUY NEW.

I like a kimber.

I traded for a gun a guy posted on the internet once. He said it was new and told me where he bought it. I called the place and they said he bought it there. His mom drove him up to Somerset and we traded in a parking lot. His mother was in a real hurry. He gave me some ammo in the trade and when I took it home and shot it ever round hung. I thought it through and decided it might be the ammo. Sure enough the old boy at Paul's put the calipers on them and the necks were over-sized. Bought new ammo and the gun shoots like a dream, Has never hung.
I wondered why the old boy traded with me the way he did. He thought he was getting me on a bad gun. Turns out he got himself cause I got a nice new gun over some bad reloads.

They like to follow people around as if they are going to steal something. And no I don't look like a thief I work at a bank, been there almost 20yrs and most of the time when I go in I have on dress clothes, makeup, my hair fixed, expensive purse on my arm and an almost new car in the parking lot I hate having someone follow me around giving those looks

I hate saying that. About not looking like a thief. But I knew that this is topix and at least someone on here would say I must have looked like one for them to follow me around. It's just insulting is all

They're in the business to buy low and sell high. Nice thing is you have the right to decline their offers and take your business elsewhere.

Can you imagine the things the employees put up with there daily. The majority of the people bringing things in to pawn or sell are not the great neighbor you have with the pretty lawns who always waves and says Hello, if you follow me. The employees are cussed and harassed because the person wanting to sell their 2000 model tv, their kids xbox, or their VCR isn't getting what they want out of it so they can go do whatever they are wanting to do with the money, which generally is never good. As for following you around in there yeah that is awkward and we all hate it. If we didn't have so many people coming in and STEALING things and then an hour later trying to sell them back to them then the rest of us wouldn't have to be treated like criminal's. I do feel for the bank lady I know what shes saying, it is insulting. And for those thinking they will rip you off, let me just say you will never walk in to any pawn shop and get full value for what you are selling, not even close! That is why so many pawn shops exist today because there are many people who get in desperate situations and need to sell quick and pawn shops use your desperate situation to make a real good living. I have bought several things from Dans and they always give me excellent deals I have never paid even half of the full price cost of anything i've bought there.

When you walk into a pawn shop to purchase something you expect to pay LESS than the value of that item, otherwise you're better off buying new. To make any money on that item they must purchase it for even less than that.

A good estimate is expect to sell at 50%, and buy at 75%.

That is how a pawn shop works, and how they make money. Considering that a large percentage of what they buy ends up making them $0 because it turns out to be stolen (and they have to surrender it), they are taking a risk with every purchase.

Keep in mind that most of the items they have in stock, they are willing to knock off about 1/3 of the price, and will make a good profit even if they knock 50% off the price. Their pawn shop code is printed right on the tag so as long as you know how much they have invested in it (and how long ago they got it), you can stand to make a good deal.
