Actually I was at IGA the other night and the lady in front of me had nutritious foods fruits vegetables real food and store brand pop and the cashier charged her tax on pop saying its a new thing. Now there is a soda tax. She had no problem with it, but I know a lot of people who depend solely on that and have no extra cash on hand. They should post that with their sodas and taxable items at least.

First off the lady at IGA made up a lie, the ebt card when swipped takes the taxes off. What the cashier did was put in the whole dollar amt plus taxes thinking the customer did not know better. For you see even cashiers and stores are looking to make a profit off the EBT. As for the energy drink situation..EBT does not stop the sale of those products. When the state mandates items then only will they no longer be available to purchase. Redbull, Monster and Energy Drinks all are legally purchased on food stamps by the guidelines established by the state.

I don't see how that would work because when non food items are run through a register, when an EBT card is scanned, it wouldn't take it.

Guess what all u negative people.... I served my country and STILL CANNOT make ends meet!!! Yes, o maybe I buy redbulls, but I look at it like it is a weight suppressant so that's less food for you, the tax payer, and me, the SOLIDER, to save money on our fat asses buying a lot of food....CORRECT????
