NEWS RELEASE
Somerset, KY – The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has identified a Somerset man as a suspect in connection with a rash of thefts from vehicles.
Over the past several days, the Sheriff’s Office has responded to numerous complaints of thefts from vehicles in the Oak Hill, Slate Branch and Bourbon Road areas of Pulaski County. In those thefts, victims have reported items stolen such as electronics, clothing items, money, hunting equipment and several firearms.
During the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect had used a stolen gift card at a Somerset area business and that led to video surveillance being recovered depicting the suspect using the stolen card. While examining the video, detectives learned the identity of the suspect and tracked him to an apartment in Oxford Apartments in Somerset.
Kyle David Phipps, 23, was taken into custody at Oxford Apartments #18. During questioning, Phipps admitted his involvement in the thefts and assisted in the recovery of some of the stolen property including several handguns.
At the writing of this release, Phipps is still being questioned by detectives and formal charges have not yet been filed. However, he will be charged with several theft offenses and will be lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
Further details will be release as they become available, by yhe PC Sheriff's Office.
