I called the office today and asked about the K-chip card they told me I would have to come in to apply. My husbands work cut there medical insurance out this month. I have never before received assistance I have 2 children that are not my husbands, from a ex boyfriend that cares more about his new girlfriends kids then he does his own. I dont get child support from him I still have to let him see the kids. Can anyone tell me a little about the K-chip card? Please dont say I am looking for a free hand out thats not what I want at all. I work my husband works, but the kids father does not work.

you can go to ky.gov and search for it. it tells you pretty much everything on there. when i was going to sign up the income limit for a family of 3 was 3000 something per month. you would probably qualify. they have the income chart on there.

I don;t think they will count your husbands income since he is not the father of your children. Go and see what you can do. I would see if I could get him in court over child support too. He may never pay a dime but he will have lots of time to think about it in jail.

Good Luck to you.

They count all household income. I agree if you haven't already got a support order on your ex in court, you should.

I have a court order its only 100.00 a month for 2 children, dont ever get a penny of it besides one time a year (tax time). The father got caught making drugs a few months ago and is walking the streets today. I went today and applied my kids are able to get K-chip but I do have a co-pay they did count all income in the household. My husband and I have 1 child together and was able to get K-chip for this child also.

I don't see how his child support is so low..even if he doesn't have a job they calculate it as if he had a minimum wage job. It should be at least $200. At least you are getting his taxes though. I guess that means he is working, so they should withhold it from his wages..anyway it's great you got approved!

He has two other children that he pays child support on. He stops working when they find out where he is. He has been without a job for the past six months. I called the worker at the child support office the other day and was told that min wage child support in KY is 180.00 before they have to subtract other children. There is alot that I would like to know how he is getting by with, more then just child support.

So if the husband has "new" children, the child support can be lowered?

yup true, that's why many women that have a child with a man that already has children goes signs up for child support. They tell em that the child's father isn't in the home when he really is, and he is getting part of his money back.

my child currently has k chip i am not offered insurance thru my work. i was told everything in the world that was wrong. my ex husband is suppose to pay child support sometimes my child gets it sometimes my child don't. They can check on that at the kchip office. i am remarried and they do not take my husbands income into consideration they do ask for a copy of his income to have in the chart. they also request a letter from your employer stating you don't have health insurance offered or it is too expensive to afford. you also may want to take a couple current bills with you address on it. good luck.
