I think med assist will pay for it if you income qualifies, but not sure if it pays for the reading and it doesn't pay for doctor visit. Just procedures and hospital stays done at the hospital or the imaging center.

Do you know a number to get ahold of them.

They will ask you when you go into the hospital. My brother had to go to the hospital for a series of tests and he had just lost his job and when he was in ER they ask him what kind of ins. he had and he told them he had none and would need help paying his bill. Then they sent someone to help him. If not they send somebody to get part of the money right then, Bless their heart.

It's probably free since we have OBOMBER CARE. If you an Illegal Allien it's free. If you don't work for a living it's probably free. If you work your pretty much screwed.

Bill, honey it's always been free to all the people that don't have the money to pay for it. Where have you been all these years? Spray and wash would have got that stain off that dress in no time and you could be caught up on things instead of scrubbing on Monica's dress. They have always's helped people who need help, when you have no money-you cann-t pay for it and I doubt ET needs an MRI. This person said nothing about being an illigal sweetheart. So, Obama probably did nothing to offend you. Munchkins.xoxoxo

Darling thanks for confirming what I've been saying on here for awhile now. No one is denied medical care in this nation so why did we need OBOMBER care? The only thing OBOMBER care will do is deny care in the future. They have already started talking about forming the death panels.

Honeybee, I thought that was why the republicans were lining all the elderly and disabled up. Because of their badly needed medicare, medicaid and social security overall so that they wouldn't have to take the silver spoon out of those who were born with one in their mouth. By shoving the spork that the poor were born having in their mouth on down our throats, I thought that was how they were planning on paying off our deficit. If I am not wrong, and since I am a democrat and I stand for the same thing, we want to leave medicare, medicaid, social security and ssi benefits alone and pry the spoon out of the mouths of the rich and stop giving the big companies like the oil companies that are charging us 4.00 a gallon for gas big tax incentives. How does that sound like we have a death chamber in mind for anyone. Pooky-poo.

the statement that free medical care is available to all that cant afford it is the craziest thing i have ever heard. it was found 7 yrs ago i needed back surgery, that doesnt mean i got it. also need a follow up MRI, didnt get that either. also have a lump on my thyroid that needs a biopsy, cant get that either. all i have is a family doctor that i have to scratch and dig for the money to pay him before i go in. they will at least put a lame dog down instead of letting it suffer. they save the approval of medicaid for the well bodied people that never have to use it

Medicaid should be done away with. EIC should be done away with. What has happened to this country, when nobody wants to pay for the services that they require? The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 will do away with Medicaid, when will EIC be given it's proper burial? Our country can no longer afford those that are not willing to help themselves.

I really dont know a lot of people that can afford any type of medical care without the help of insurance. Its crazy what a doctor charges for any type of surgery or for even meds sometimes. If your body is in pain, the cheapest way to fix it is get strung out on pain pills and ignore trying to fix whats wrong with it. A $100 worth of pain pills or a $100,000 back surgery?

There is a place in Monticello that does MRIs for $300 down and they set you up on some kind of payment plan for the rest of it. I think its $500 if you pay for it up front. Thats the cheapest one around here.

Ask for financial help or at least tell them you have no insurance. Prices can be talked down. My husband lowered a 17,000.00 helicopter ride to 12,000 by telling them that was all he could pay. Take it or leave it.

There is a website called www.rxcut.com that has a printable card that is supposed to help with the cost of medications and screenings of the sort you are talking about, I believe.

The card definitely works for medication. It cut the cost of one of mine in half. It might be worth your time.

I am currently going through tests and biopsies for cancer (at UK hospital in LEX). I have had numerous blood tests done, as well as a CT scan and PET scan. I do not have insurance or a job. All my scans and blood tests have been free so far, and extreme reduction in doctors fees (went from $1200 to $300). They are letting me make $10 monthly payments.

If they know upfront that you don't have insurance, and you provide proof of income, they will work with you. Especially if the MRI was doctor ordered. When you get bills in the mail, call them immediately, and explain your situation.
