I am rather upset with how our court system handles the juvinille cases. Reasoning being, I had to appear this morning with my child due to some charges we had pressed against another individual. I was told prior to going to court that this juvinille would be sent to juvi, only to get in court and he get his hand smacked. GRRRRRR!!!! People set and are fast to point their fingers at the parents for not doing what is right where their child is concerned - and yes in some cases that is the case. But sometimes you have to stop and think about this kids whose parents bust their hinny to raise them the right way only to have them turn into delinquents. Then you get in front of a Judge and he says " That is fine just don't let it happen again, see you next week" Oh my, should this child not be punished for his wrongdoing ecspecially since he is a continual repeat offender? His rap sheet at 17 is longer then some who are in the pen. Just wanted to vent a little...Let me know your opinion, maybe I am being to harsh, but you have to wonder why the younger generations are in so much trouble. Not only do some parents fail their children, so does the court system. What will this child be like as a grown man if he is not taught a lesson now...

He will eithere be in prison or dead!! That is the main problem with our teens now ,they know they can do what they want and get a pat on the back.Juvinille Prison sounds like the right place for most of them.If it was my kid ,no matter how much I love them, and they acted like most of these spoilt brats do I would send them to jail myself.

Not that I am aware of. But who knows in this town. It has bothered me all day and am hoping that tomorrow I get some answers from our Attorney as to why something was not done today. I can not continue to run to court every week b/c they want to give this kid a chance. The way I see it,he had his chance and acted out. Not my problem, he should be punished and I mean by more then a mere slap on the hand. i am so aggrevated

Judge Maquire use to have them back in court every two weeks. Said they would get tired of coming and change their behavior. Maguire never let it bother him, that he was causing working parents to miss work every other week just to come to court and get another court date. The working parents received little help through court as far as finding placement or help with an unruley child. Social Service was used little to help find assistance and placement. CDW's have their hands tied and try to turn the kids around prior to court to avoid the court procedures. The newspaper today is full of court news of adults who where in JuVee Court as JuVee's and have now been arrested as adults. Need to jail or find placement for help early on. First timers need to go to a work camp with non-violent offenders. You would be surprised at what a kid can learn in Jail. Juvenile Court is suppose to educate and offer assistance to improve behaviors not punish by just placing them in jail. It is however a big shock when they turn 18 and the door slams shut, the time for learning and reform is over.lol
Placement is a problem. Laurel County built a Juv Jail over a land fill and now it can not be used due to location and the structure having problems. I think most are sent to Danville, kids can not be placed with adults. There are several centers they can go to such as Ramey-Estep. Somerset needs to build a detention/training center for those 17 and under. Would be money well spent to prevent some problems down the road.

I totally agree. If my child was on the other side of the law, I would want help for him outside of the home. However, we are the victims in this case. I do not want my child to think it is ok to steal and I have raised him in such a way, I want him to see that it is punishable by law and what the consequences of such doings are. Again I can not go to court on a weekly basis b/c they want to continue to give this kid another chance. Geeezzz, can they not see that it is not doing him any good? he continues to be in trouble and has been held in contempt on several occassions and only recieved a slap on the hand. Bullshit!!!!

Good thing for him that Debra Lambert is not a Judge anymore. It would be safe to say, if not some form of detention he would be at least placed in Fostercare if the parent is unable to control their child. Lambert was tuff especially when a kid would continue to cause problems and show contempt. She has put a few parents in jail also for allowing their kids to pull off all sorts of Bullshit.

I never had anything in front of Judge Lambert, as my kids know right from wrong and thank the Lord, I have not had any trouble. I just hope that Judge Wood will do something about this next week. I have a meeting with our Attorney tomorrow and hopefully he will have some good news for me. All I want done is for this kid that decided to steal to get his rightful due. The amount of the merchandise makes this a felony. It's not a simple mistemenor(spelling). Cross your fingers for me. Haha get this, I went and picked up the police report and it is wrong. Wrong place, wrong time and not one of the witness statements attached. Hmmmm!! Guess my Atty. can take care of that too...

Judge Wood will do what ever is best to find the proper punishment. Don't think I would want to be in contempt of an order made by her. She was a defense attorney, but she is well aware of the problems people are experiencing with the new generation who tend to do as they wish for lack of parental supervision most of the time. I wish you luck, but if things don't turn your way it is for a reason. Worry about what you can change, not what you can't. This Perp will eventually receive his dues and steal from the wrong person who will either shoot him or have him back in court. Judges get tired of repeat offenders.

That is what bothers me so bad. He is a repeat offender. Numerous times he has been to court over similar issues. I just hope that next Tuesday I am satisfied..

Well I am a few days late writing this. We meet with The Juvinille County Atty last week and come to find out we are not going back to court this week. It is being pushed back because the Atty. is behind in his work. Well pardon me, sorry that my case is of a bother to you. I have since made a few phone calls, and the Attorneys in this area don't really want to deal with juvinille cases. Go figure!!! So now not only do we have a court system that just slaps them on the hand and re-schedules, we have Attorneys whom don't wish to take your case. Hmmm!! I wonder why the kids of today are the way they are. For the majority the parents have let them get by with things, and then when it gets to the point where it is illegal the system sits on it. Can't figure this one out.. Does anyone have an idea of a next step I could take? I would love to get it out of Pulaski County..

I hate to be the Bad News Bear but nothing will happen to this child. I have a juvenile delinquit step son, and nothing has happened to him or his mother. Social Services is a joke, Court is a joke, and the law is a joke. I have learned a lot in the past three years and I CAN NOT BElIEVE the court system. The sad thing is....this kid will end up dead and it is no one's fault but the system. We have spent thounsands of dollars on lawyers, we have had at least 11 social workers in the past 3 years, and still NOTHING. He stays in trouble, truancy, pot, ect. ect. ect. and it all falls on his MOTHER. She allows all of it, and even participates with him and guess what? NOTHING! I have no FAITH in the SYSTEM, and the only advice I can give you, is don't worry about it. What will be will be....and that will probably be no price to pay. GOOD LUCK

You would think I am asking for a miracle, whent the truth is all I want is Justice. Oh, since this last post by me, I have spoken with an attorney out of county and they are really interested in this case. So maybe, just maybe someone is really listening to the issue ans sees the problems that lie ahead. Let's hope that once we meet with them, they will decide to act on it. Wish me luck

J-U-V-E-N-I-L-E.

Perhaps now that the Jerry Springer generation is raising children, we are seeing a spike in juvenile stupidity. It's bred into them.

If every juvenile,(who acted stupid) was incarcerated we would practically need a juvenile detention facility in every neighborhood.

I propose a couple of solutions.

Soak their next Big Mac meat patty in anti-freeze.

If that is too inhumane for your tastes, get out the paddle and whip that AS$.
