When I was at Lexington in Dec. a man from Somerset told us about the Olive Garden building in Somerset. If so where is it located?

Just another lie put out by the wet crowd. If it was going to be built it would be in the newspaper.
olive garden is having problem with earning now. I don't see them coming to small town in ky. I don't believe Richmond has one.

Richmond has had one for quite a while. So busy on Easter we had to wait over 45 minutes for a table. Dont know why they are having so much financial problems as they seem to be pretty busy and pasta dishes are the bigger profit margin dishes. Must be poor management.

Olive Garden is just one of several restaurants which comprise the Darden Restaurants.
Darden had net profit from their third quarter operations of $134.5M and paid a quarterly dividend of $.50/share.
Sales were down from last year due to winter weather conditions, especially in certain parts of the country.
The company continues to expand with new CONUS restaurants and opening new area in Brazil and several other countries.
I don't know if your area is on their list of new CONUS restaurants but they have not cancelled any that were previously announced.

Nasty place! Food is just reheated and too much salt. Try PapaLeno's in Berea or The Gondolier in London. Soooo much better. I have ate true Italian food and Olive Garden is not Italian.

Never heard of this one, what are CONUS restaurants? If there is one open in Kentucky, tell me where, please!

CONUS is an abbreviation for Continental United States. It is most frequently used in government and business.

But the food is good. Not great, but good. I think many people in and around Somerset would be happy with some new mediocre (average or ordinary) restaurants like Olive Garden or Applebees. I'll be glad when Steak and Shake and Lone Star open up.

Which local restaurants do you suggest? You must eat at some of them.

Locally would depend on what you wanted. As for a good steak you won't find a good one in Somerset. The Cove in Russell Springs, Shiloh's in London, or Logan's in Richmond Are the closest

I wish for any restaurant that serves a good steak, an authentic seafood restaurant, and an authentic Italian restaurant. Not the fast food restaurants we have now. I miss fresh seafood the most I think, guess I've been spoiled in having relatives that live in coastal areas and visiting every summer. Having my cousin pop in at my grandmothers house every so often and having a nice big Blue Fish he had caught that morning, or crabs. I have more than one cousin that makes a living fishing. Yum yum

I'm just dissappointed that all we have here are Captain Ds and Long John Silvers. We could support any restaurant we wanted here if we could get one that knows how to train their employees in good customer service. I think that's the main problem we have with restaurants opening and closing all the time, a customer wants to feel like they are not an imposition. But also, customers need to tip well when they do recieve good customer service, not be a cheapskate. After all, those servers don't make much.......

I've been happy with the few steaks I've had at Guthrie's. The places you mentioned are all out of town. Shiloh's is OK. I haven't been to the Logan's in Richmond, but if it is like the Logan's Road House in Lexington, it is OK, too. But I'm never totally comfortable in a place where you toss peanuts hulls on the floor. I keep waiting to hear my mother telling me to "Don't throw trash on the floor". If I go to Russell Springs, I'd probably go to Coe's for catfish. Good catfish and good local atmosphere. If I go to Richmond, I usually eat at Masala, the Indian restaurant. I don't go to Lexington enough any more to have any favorites up there. Let me ask again, which local restaurants do you suggest?

I'd say you're on the money, Guthrie's serves a fine steak.....way better than Logan's, I live in Richmond now, and I'd take Guthrie's or Outback anyday over Logan's....although Logan's ain't that bad. Someone mentioned Papa Leno's.....that's some good Italian...
