Mine doesn't. Yours was mistranslated. The proper translation for the 5th commandment in Exodus Thou shalt not murder.

Although, I do believe that abortion is still up the woman who chooses this route. I don't think many people take this route just for birth control reasons. A lot of decision making has to occur with this procedure. In the early years this was done in secret and many women died from the procedures. We can't take those rights away from women. The death penalty has nothing to do with the right to have an abortion.

2 Kings 2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

A lot of decision making should be used with the procedure. It's not always though. When teenage Girls can go get one (new york) without parents knowledge. When you can get a partial birth abortion and have everyone defending your right too , while a baby that looks just like a baby is pulled out to die. These are indications that we have become way too accepting of abortion. Something needs to change.

Ok all you breeders out there, read this article. We are breeding ourselves into stupidity. The gene pool is being polluted.
We are put on earth to be productive. Mentally and severely handicapped ,are always dependent on other sources in society.
Abortion should be an option.7

What are you saying Gomer? That we should keep the gene pool "pure" ? Hmmm...why does that sound familiar?

I knew some people would take it that way.If 1 in 88 children are born austistic, how long will it take to completely breed out productive people?
It seems to be working in Washington.
No I'm not a natzi.Just a fact of life.
Would you like to raise a child to be dependant for the rest of their lifes. And when you die who is going to care for this 40 year child?

Nothing like a discussion of the most controversial subject known to humanity.

I skimmed through the thread and found a few common arguments against abortion. But I think the issue is clearly about *rights* not abortions.

Someone said that most pregnancies occur because of a choice that was made. I agree. However, not all choices are free ones. Setting aside the definition of rape that we all agree upon, there are other kinds of coercion.

-A girl below the age of maturity, even if she willingly has sex, does not have the same kind of understanding of what she's getting into. By forcing her to bear a child it is a form of long-term rape. Had she aged even a few more years she might have understood the consequences better and made a different choice. Kids should be forced to have kids. Ever.

-Not all marriages are a paradise of mutual consent. The CDC estimates 32,000 women get pregnant from rape each year. I'm not sure how those numbers break or if they include married women and their rapist husbands or not. But I can tell you that I know from the experiences of a good friend that married women *can and do* get raped, regularly. And those rapes do sometimes result in pregnancy.

What makes this debate so difficult is that it involves babies. Everyone loves babies. I loved mine, no doubt about it.

But a pregnancy is not a baby. Certainly prior to 24-28 weeks we are not talking about a person with an identity, feelings, thoughts or anything like that. There literally cannot be any suffering prior to that time, so an abortion cannot be called immoral.

The issue here should be about rights. We value our rights so much we go to war to defend them. We kill people with bombs and guns to protect our right to say dirty words, drive fast cars, and go hunting. Yet we want to shut down the rights of half the country to have full control over their own bodies.

I think people would see that point more clearly if they could get the images of babies out of their heads. Most pregnancies take place prior to 24 weeks. There is not baby in the picture. There are fetuses, but they are not yet people. If removed, they do not keep growing. "Personhood" has not yet happened. There are no rights to be violated except those of the mother.

The article makes no mention of autism being a result of "polluting the gene pool." That is your sad, uninformed assumption. Most scientists believe that we have higher rates of autism (and many other conditions) simply because we have better diagnostic. As the article clearly states:“Researchers noted that the findings don't necessarily mean more children are developing autism. Rather, the increase might reflect increased diagnosis of the condition.” Today children are often labeled autistic where as 50 years ago were said to be shy, introverted or simply quiet. Congratulations. You have put your self in the same category as some of the greatest and most despicable despots in history, who like you spoke to "purity of the human race.”

So the article was not about autism? It would be common sense to figure out ,if the gene is there it is going to pollute the pool.
The purity of the human race you are referring to was "RACIAL".Not a disease.

If my wife were going to have a child with debilitating disease, abortion would be in the cards. If it makes you feel better about yourself, make your own decision.A person should do what they think is right, and can afford themselves.
Freedom of choice.
