The fact that the "powers that be" in our State capital haven't a clue as to what their doing (in much of anything) and to their denial of a liquor license to a Liquor World or Liquor Barn (or the like) only stiffles (again) the limitations as to what will be available to the citizens of Somerset. These larger retailers not only provide a larger selection of beer, wines and alcohol, but a deli department with cheeses and meats to choose from to fresh baked breads of all assortments and party goods. It also provides better pricing because they can afford to buy in larger quatities. Cheated again Somerset!

Wow, can't talk about the elected County Judge-Executive, the post gets removed?

Really, we can't discuss the head of our county government on Topix?

LOL

Very seldom. Local mod has their finger on the trigger if you mention local politics. That just isn't cool.

Wait, take that back. You can discuss CITY politics all you want. Trash the mayor or city council, who cares? But as soon as you mention one particular quartet singer who just happens to be the ELECTED LEADER OF THE ENTIRE COUNTY GOVERNMENT, your post gets zapped.

Speaking of deleted posts. Does anyone know if anything of a sexual nature, that isn't explicit, is against the terms of service?

Yesterday makes the second time I've had a post, as well as a whole topic deleted.

Lisa, the TOS does not apply to the Somerset forum. I have frustrated myself on this issue for months. They delete whatever, whenever they want.

Directly from the article:

"Girdler made it clear that the city is not asking the state to replace the licensees that were selected, but to add to that number. That said, the city has not issued any Retail Liquor Package licenses yet to finish off the process, and won’t until the situation is resolved, according to Girdler.
“We want to be fair to the applicants,” said Girdler.“(We’ll ask) for a quick court hearing unless the state says,‘Hey let’s sit down and work something out.’”"

Key words: "until the issue is resolved..."

Shouldn't be, other forums delve into an almost pornographic nature.

But this is Somerset Topix, if the local mod doesn't like it, it goes.

They don't like much beyond the "hi, how are you today, sure is cold out,+20 points!" posts.

BM, it might be because there is no link listed for it. I was told that once myself.

Interesting though. CAN you post the link? I'd really like to read this!!! I'm just now playing catch up.

This stinks! I was looking forward to having a bottle of nice wine handily available in town when I wanted one. Now you're saying I STILL have to travel and spend 10 bucks in gas for a 15 dollar bottle of wine??

Whoa. That's purely pornographic right there now, just some of the titles alone. The bottom dwellers delight I'd imagine.

They allow that for even minors to see? I'd think there would be a disclaimer on the page at the very least!!

You would be surprised. There are some forums here on Topix dedicated to drugs, with many people buying and selling out in the open.

Check it out:

http://www.topix.com/forum/drug/oxycontin

More proof that whoever is deleting all the innocent, non-TOS violating things some of us post here on the Somerset forums are in no way connected with Topix HQ.

It is a local they have given the delete button to.

Here you go, on the CJ website:

http://somerset-kentucky.com/newslive/x205659...

It is toward the end, you know how the CJ likes to post their articles as one big wall of text.

But it seems to clearly state that the city intends to hold all the package store licenses until this is settled, probably in court.

Makes me wonder back to the rumor months ago that a certain gas salesman told his church that it was his intention to buy up all 5 liquor licenses and prevent liquor stores from opening in Somerset. Now, he couldn't do that by law, but something such as this accomplishes the same end, no?

Good God. I wonder if they leave some of those things up FOR law enforcement to check out?? Who knows..

I'll just keep doing like I've always done and stick to the local forums that I enjoy and/or the ones in other towns that I personally know people living in, just in case somebody thinks they can hammer them without any feedback being turned in for it..

Yeah, I remember reading it now. This could very well be another instance of Girdler opening his mouth before thoroughly checking out the state laws. Lawsuits will be plentiful if he holds up the permits already granted by the state.
