I gots to be there if a Tractor/Trailer attempts to squeeze into that area to unload.

Maybe UPS, or FEDEX will deliver with a straight truck.

To stock a good selection , it would take at least a good sized U-Haul - Or , a medium sized we haul -

No. I wouldn't be surprised of its several weeks before they start selling. It took them a month to start selling beer.

I hope it doesn't even take that long, BM.

I am a bit disappointed from what I'm reading here though, that I'll only have the option of shopping for a quality bottle of wine at a drug store.
(Where I doubt we'll find any quality wine selections in stock).

What is this "Wildcats" place?

Oh well... Hwy 27 still leads north and south, just like it did a year ago..

They'll have MD 20 20 and some Boonse's Farm and you can get you some Night Train! Don't forget the grape fruit juice.

Wildcat beer wine and spirits. 775 S Hwy 27. It was the 39 cent card store next to Mr gattis. Its not a bad sized little place when you look at it. I think it may well be the #1 liquor store in Somerset when all is said and done.

Thank you, "Wet Voter"!! I wasn't aware of that! I appreciate your politeness, and the educated answer.

Hope this place opens pretty soon. It would be great to have a nice glass of quality Merlot when I want one. Running out is a minor inconvenience, not an emergency situation. A local outlet will certainly be handy.

I was halfway kidding, but the way this whole fiasco has drug on it wouldn't shock me much if that wasn't the date!

Some of the smaller places sometimes have good wine selections. There is some smaller ones in downtown Danville(they got 6 licenses) that have a decent selection.

Of course, they also got a Liquor Mart, and a Liquor Barn(HUGE). The Bottle Shop and Chill's Wine and Spirits are both decent sized too.

Why'd Somerset get shafted you wonder?

I have NO idea, but that's a really good question. This is taking forever. Other towns have had strange wait periods, but at least they had a direction of where things were going. Somerset doesn't seem to.. There's no logical reason for it that I've been able to find so far anywhere on-line or in newspapers.
(I don't even bother with our Commonwealth journal though. Syo if there has been anything in there, I wish someone would post a link to it)..

I know for a fact that the Somerset city council doesn't have anything to do with it anymore. Once the vote passed and they set the rules and regulations they wanted for Somerset, they're legal hold was done. Only the state ABC board has control over things now.. So who or what's holding it up? I surely don't know..

Did they post what the hold up is? I've not read anything about it.. And oddly no one has posted anything on Topix.
(Not the I've read anyway).
Do you know why, Westwood? I'm really curious myself.

This is my thinking as well. I really think the number Somerset got was lower than it should have been. They are supposed to take into account the size of the city relative to the area it serves. That came from the ABC. We got fewer licenses than Danville and by October, Somerset was selling more in the categories that were approved than Danville.(Danville averages 530K in package malt sales per month in Winter and Somerset sold 741K in October and 874K in November). November sales were quite a bit higher than Danville and by the summer, it will probably be double that amount. It's hard to believe that 5 small liquor licenses are going to work for such demand. My only hope is that one of them gets bought out or at least they put enough of their revenue into expanding. I have no idea why Liquor Barn didn't jump all over this market. That was a big mistake on their part. I do think they would have gotten approval.

I'm not sure what holdup you're talking about. I think all license have been granted by the state. No one knows why it took them so long.

I'm curious what's holding up the liquor. Beer and wine coolers have already been here for months already.. But there's still not a bottle of bourbon or wine to be had.. No "full" liquore outlets whatsoever.

Anyone have a clue why?

Just an opinion , I thunk maybe somebody tried to influence somebody in charge , in Frankfort , and it didn't work - Shake up at the top , so the new guys had to avoid any and all appearances of improprieties - Sad that some peoples greed and egos have to mess up a good thing - It'll calm down after a while , meanwhile , the future customers are being denied their long fought for right to purchase , locally , their choices of liquor -
