You should be more pissed off about county officials using public credit cards for personal expenses and not keeping proper records. Or maybe officials hiring political cronies or family members. Or how about jail prisoners for personal benefit. Or kickbacks and bribes.

Studies show that police officers being assigned one vehicle will take better care of them and so the cars will be better maintained and cleaner helping them provide more trouble free miles.
also if a police officer is driving a cruiser even when he is off duty it still providing a police presence helping to deter crime.

They don't pay for the cop cars, tax payers pay for the cars, tax payers also pay for the maintenance done to the police cars. Tax payers pay for the gas that is burned in the police cars. I see how that could matter. Cops should drive their personal vehicles for their personal errands. I could see them driving to and from work and home as I posted before, but not anywhere else while off duty.

Ok douchbag, you are just jealous because you ride in the back of these cars instead of driving them. You could have choosen a better life, so get over it, it is no different than our tax dollars paying to keep your sorry a$$ up. Get a life.

There is also the liability issue if they have a wreck while driving a county owned vehicle while off duty.

Your post makes way too much sense, so you will probably be getting a lot of arguments on here. Most people don't like to hear the truth.

Okay believe it or not, but the money spent on the maintance and gas on the cars cost less money then if each officer was to recieve a raise. That is why they are able to use their cars like that, as an insentive instead of paying them more money (which they would make if they went to Lexington)
Somerset is not the only city to do this, many areas do this because it is more cost effective. Plus a slight added bonus is the when the off duty officers are driving around in thier cruiser, the other people driving do not know he is off duty and his presents helps with things such as speeding.

You hit the nail right on the head, they are just jealous, you gotta love it, seeing all this trash so jealous of the good people. But if it weren't for the trash the cops wouldn't have a job. Seems they are the only ones argueing, they can't stand to hear the truth. TRASH YOU SUCK. I am proud of all the cops in every city and county and state, they get alot of credit for having to deal with these douchbags.

the cops in this town are a fucking joke, most of which got picked on in high school and now use the badge as a way to add about 6 inches to there dicks.
In fact I would go as far as to say the somerset city police is one of the most useless police departments to ever have been created. I saw 3 cruisers at a stop the other day, and the girl they had pulled over weighed all of 100 pounds, and 2 of the cops were just leaning on there hoods with a shit eating grin on there retarded faces. "to serve and protect there own fat asses" is what there badges should say.

I have a friend who is a cop in cincinnati ohio. He drives his car off duty but, has to pay a monthly fee to do so. If you don't like it then don't pay your taxes..that's the only solution i have for you my friend!

I would have no problem with cops driving their car off duty if they paid a monthly fee. I feel that cops that drive their car off duty though without paying anything is in a sense, robbing the system. Police officers are supposed to set an example for the rest of the community, and I don't think that this sets a good example when you stop and think about it. Then again this is Somerset, Pulaski County, one of the wettest dry counties and more corrupted of most.

I know several cops and they drive their car when they are not working, sometimes. However, I know sometime they are supposed to get off work at a certain time and they work 20-30 minutes over and don't get paid for that time. They just chalk it up to part of the job. I know some of their days off they wokr on their reports because they stay so busy in the days they work they can't. So I say let them drive their cars when there off they are obviously dedicated to this community, so thats the least we can do. I'm sure the pay isn't that great.

If a cop uses his/her cruiser off duty they have to pay for the gas they use. Its not like your paying for the gas they use when they arent working. They are responsiible for the gas & maintenece of their vehicles.. you guys are pathetic.
