I traveled a week across Kentucky for a fall vacation. I only paid 2.99 a gal of gas all in every direction that I traveled, north, east and west and southern area. I came back to Somerset on Saturday and seen priced were 3.16. I believe Somerset needs to be questioned on their prices. Every station I filled was 2.99. I stopped at several Speedway and Kroger sites and used my card, which I recieved gas at discount of 2.89. Walmart, SHELL and Marathon stations I stopped were all 2.99. Looks like either the companies or the suppliers in the Somerset area is price hiking! The gas should be the same across the state and when a town is higher then the national average per barrel, something is not right in the town.

Don't think Obama or McCain controls the prices too high in Somerset. How about the local ditributors answer the question!

well first of all gas is going down because of the upcoming election. That is why you only paid 2.99 a gallon.
Okay, the reason why gas is so high around here, is because of Ward Correl!

Okay, Candycane, yes gas might be more there, and the cost of the living is more there too. But you all have more jobs to choose from than we do. More jobs that actually pay more than 8 - 10 dollars an hour. It all equals out the same pretty much in the long run!

ok you think there are more jobs around here? maybe if you want to go to work in atlanta which is an hour and a half away just like there is in lexington there! this is a military town so there may be some jobs here but the cost of living here is almost the same as there.. i lived in somerset my whole life and there are jobs there for those who are looking.. and for your further info alot of people here are loosing their jobs due to the bank crisis going on right now.. there are more unemployed people here right now in this town than somerset has seen in a long time and this is not a very prosperous town.. somerset is actually around the same size as columbus if not larger.. thanks! and if you cant afford the gas prices at 2.99-3.17 then maybe you should stop driving around so much or try car pooling.. and where are these $8-$10/hr jobs around here? i would love to find one cause our minimum wage is only .15 cents higher than somersets.. and im in the military so if you average out my pay a waitress living on tips makes more money than i do and has to work a whole lot less.. so dont talk to me about ur gas is 2.99 when ours is still almost 4.00 a gallon

If gas prices at your location is still 4.00, think you too might want to ask your local distributors "WHY"

please dont think that they have not been questioned cause it has.. but like alot of other places we here in columbus, georgia are experiencing severe shortages in fuel so they are having to raise the price and also having to restrictions on how much fuel you can purchase per vehicle.. ten gallons per vehicle... well thank god that i drive a small saturn or i would be up a $hit creek without a paddle ;)

If you gonna bitch about the places that have the gas priced so high, get it right.

Cumberland Lake Shell

Call them and the others, complain, write news people, newspapers, surely these people have phone numbers you can get ahold of them.

Here it is. There is a little known initiative called "Gas Fasting". It is a grass roots effort gaining popularity in some places, where on the 15th of every month everyone refuses to buy gas, period.

The 15th is this Wednesday. If everyone will spread to word, and a lot of people don't buy gas, it will send a message.

Gas Fasting also encourages everyone to not do business of any kind with gas vendors, so no coffee as Speedway, no groceries at Kroger, no soft drinks at Marathon, or no smokes at Shell.

We all need to stick together and stick it to the greedy bastards, if only one day each month.

When gas is 35 cents cheaper in Lexington than it is in Somerset, we all know it is price fixing. I think Hal Rogers needs to answer some questions about this. He has enough influence to do something about it, if he isn't in bed with those who are doing the price fixing.

Well I didn't mean to make anyone mad, Geeze. And I admire a woman in the military. Im an older man and retired now. Its hard living on my my retirement. But i can afford to drive. I was stating a fact as far as gas around here goes. You can't make any money around here. Unless you go to school. But I can name off several places right off the top of my head that does pay 8-10 and hour. But, sorry didn't want to get on here and cause any problems was only stating a fact. I have grandkids, nieces and kids, that found jobs ansering phones and different other work starting at 8to10 an hour.
