I visited today to try and eat some "sushi" and really, it was the most awful thing I had ever tasted in the world. This chemically treated grease-infused substance they try to pass off as food is dangerous! I am no stranger to true, authentic cuisines of the world including Cantonese, Mongolian, Korean, etc. and I have to say this takes the cake for the WORST food I have ever eaten. I feel like I wasted my money. The sushi was noticeably old, as the texture was chewy, the seaweed tasted like the inside of a refrigerator, and... well, it was just horrible. everything else that I saw there was a) SO greasy it should have been illegal and b) not authenticly "Chinese" by any stretch of the imagination. The only thing I saw even near authentic was Shaomai but based on the quality of the other food, I didn't want to try it. I basically left without eating. I should have just saved my money to come home and make Pad Thai out of a box. I am so disappointed with Somerset. GROSS.

Right, it isn't supposed to be all Chinese because it has Mongolian, Japanese and Korean elements as well-- but since when is "corn fritters" inspired Asian cuisine? Of COURSE we're in po-dunk Kentucky. That was kind of the point of this post. I shouldn't have to drive all the way to Lexington to get amazing Dim Sum. In reality, real Cantonese food would disturb the -ish out of most folks in somerset.

if you talk to the owner he will tell you that it intentionally has american food mixed in hence the corn fritters, pizza, cheese sticks, and corn dogs.

This is not the kind of sushi you'll find in a japanese restaurant. I agree their sushi tastes bad. Siomai is my all time favorite there and the crab legs.

I've never eaten that sort of food in my entire life until my husband dragged me in there one day- so I have no clue what other food of this kind is supposed to taste like. So with that said, I love the food at KB.

I don't eat seafood, so some of the things you all mentioned I don't eat to have an opinion. I love the pineapple chicken, the sesame and general tso's chicken is great too. The veggie dish with the chicken and sauce is nice. The steak and pork chops are great as long as they prepare it right...which at times they haven't. I ask for pink in the middle and it's dark all the way through...other than that we enjoy it.

I guess it's people like my hubby and me who don't know the difference that will keep them in business...lol...we go a few times a month, money permitting.

I have to agree with "Xiao"-King Buffet has some of the worst so-called Chinese food EVER. I haven't ate there in quite a while but what I remember wasn't that good. I usually just ate the stuff cooked to order on the Mongolian Grill-at least you know that it is cooked fresh. Personally, I think that New China & even the buffet by Big Lots is better than King's Buffet. The best Chinese restaurant in Somerset, by far, is Peking. Tom Wu is an excellent cook. I have tried some in Lex but they weren't as good.

i go to chinese resturants every chance i get and have been to hundreds. king buffet is the best chinese resturant that i have ever been to. i drive an hour one way to eat there once a week. if i lived in somerset i would eat there every day. the viewing is good too, very nice decorations and the servers are HOT, not to mention very good service.

I agree with Conservative voice. Peking is much better than King. The egg rolls at King taste HORRIBLE!

I like King Buffet... I have ate there since it has been open, never gotten sick a single time. I don't know about the sushi though, it isnt really sushi any how it is just pieces of veggies rolled up, not raw fish. They have pizza, cheese sticks, and corn fritters for people who come who dont like Chinese food. Probably 50% of the people you see eat there just get chicken or steak grilled then have the stuffed cheese-tater things. As for the place beside Big-Lots you might want to read the health ratings in the paper for there lol... They get in trouble for rat droppings about every time they are inspected.

Sushi is actually the name of the rice that is inside it.
I saw that on Jeopardy. Before when I'd see "grilled sushi", I was always like, "If it's grilled, how can it be sushi?" lol.

I was looking around the Buffet looking for the pot stickers and one of the workers asked me what I was looking for. A few minutes later - they brought me a pan of pot stickers!! They weren't on the menu the day we came but, they made them for us! Hard to beat that11
