question

London, KY

#12 Dec 28, 2008
I was thinking about applying there. Is it a good place to work? I have a friend that works ther and she likes it. But she did say that some of the trainings for the first 2 weeks were boring and some were interesting. She said the medication one was pretty interesting and she liked the CPR class. I was wondering what everyone thought about the trainings and what they thought about working there. I am thinking about putting in an application this week.

the training are pretty difficult to get through especially having to remember all the information and be expected to know it prefectly i worked there for a little while but u have to be a very special person to keep a job like that. just be dedicated and caring and have a love for working with people.

You got hired and don't know what you are going to make??? Isn't this something you should have asked at the interview? Damn, I feel sorry for whoever you will be taking care of.

In this dire economy and as hard as it is to find work right now, I think I can almost understand that comment, lol. Somehow I can see it, not knowing exactly what they pay is if you've tried so hard to find a job and one finally comes along!

Congrats on the new job, "I just got hired". Way to go!!

Multiply whatever you are making per hour times 40. This will give you a ballpark figure. Glad I could help out. I still feel bad for the people that you are giving care to and the company that hired you.

I can tell you if you work the 64 hour week you make 570 7.50 an hour for the first 40 and then overtime after that. I work the homes as well. You can clock in at 3:45 for the keys that will give you an extra hour a week if you work mon- thurs. Good luck if you need any help let me know I will help you anyway I can

If you guys were smart you wouldn't get involved at all with the company there all a bunch of back stabbers they fool around with one another the individuals are the worst of all companies you need more money for working with speds. don't waste your time seriously unless your a b---- thumper whom thinks they can help or serve a purpose.
I don't care how bad the individuals are, someone has to take care of them and they deserve to be cared for! How in the world can you talk about them like that? Most of these individuals didn't ask to be in the situation they are in. They most definately don't deserve to be bad mouthed! Yes, it's a hard job that not everyone could or should do. I have worked there and I understand that it can be stressful at times. That doesn't mean that these people deserve less care and understanding than anyone else.

Ok, that's my rant for the day. Carry on people, carry on.

I worked there a long time i felt sorry for the indiviuals knowing it wasn't there fault they were in there situation. But when you start working well with them they will f u over and put you with the worst speds ever. I actually use to give a s--- but not now the individuals are as bad as backstabbing staff so they can all go to he-l I'll c them there laughing. My personal opinion they should have done it the spartan way and thrown over cliff at birth along with all the welfare and food stamp low lifes that milk it for all its worth, there other people that get in spots and actual need help not government holding hands and speds are the most protected over anybody but hey! wasn't for them there wouldn't be shi-- as- jobs for us to make a living in the world
And in my personal opinion, it's probably a good thing that you DON'T work there anymore! Someone with so little compassion as you seem to have for the individuals. Sure it's great when you can work with the easy ones, but give you one that's a little more challenging and they are all backstabbers and the like huh? But hey, like I said before, some people are cut out for the job and other's aren't. I would still be working there if my car hadn't of decided to die and left me without transportation to and from work. I loved working there, I loved the people I worked with coworkers and individuals. It wasn't all sweetness and roses, I had a couple of "moments" with a couple of the individuals, but the difference is I know for the most part, they can't help the way they act. That's one reason why they are there, to have people work with them and help them be able to function (if only a little) in the community. You are a heartless person to think they should have been disposed of at birth. I honestly hope that you never have a child or family member who ends up like the individuals at Independant Opportunities. What would you do then? Think about it.

To answer your response, I loved my job there and the individuals to a limit but hated staff and co-workers.I'm just a simple man trying to make a living and I have a low tolerance for people anyways. Yes I'm very heartless, and yes I have two very beautiful kids and I'm glad there healthy and smart. I feel sorry for the individuals because they never had that chance but it's not exactly there fault it's from parents with drug abuse whom need shot, accidents sh-t happens,it's not there fault. And if my children had a problem me and my wife we decided we couldn't handle letting them suffer so if it happened she would have an abortion.I know that's mean but america was founded on hard work and I feel everyone needs to contribute or be gone!! but yes I'm heartless, low tolerance for people but if we were friends I'd do anything for ya so look at the bigger picture instead of pity!!

Most, if not all, facilities such as IO are in it for the money. There are some caring workers, but most are backstabbing people. Many employees at IO are from CAKY- if that tells you anything.
It's amazing how many offices in the front would be cleared out if across-the-board drug testing was mandated.

I guess this is just one of those times where two people will have to just agree to disagree.

Where is this place located & what kind of facility/work is involved? What positions are offered & requirments involved? I'm not local & not too familiar with surroundings. I am looking for a job & have 12+ years experience in the health field.
