Earlier there was a vote to cut the NSA's funding and it failed by just 12 votes. Hal Rogers voted against cutting it. I guess he thinks we all like knowing every conversation we have on the phone is being recorded and stored. Thanks for looking out for us, Hal!

<quoted text>I quess 92 years out of the last 100 ky has had a dem gov i think that has a lot to do with eastern ky being poor. London is getting 2000 new jobs this year. The wet cry babies said they would not get any because they failed to vote wet.
Also up until about about 20 years ago the eastner part of hal distric was run by dem carl perkins and then his son. Then dem added those dem counties and his distric is only about 45% rep and 55% dem.
Wait, so does that mean the reason Northern Kentucky, Lexington, and Louisville are economically prosperous is because of the Democratic governor?

I guess London got those 2000 new jobs because of our Democratic governor also, right?

<quoted text> George Washington and ben Franklin did not have nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons, and were not wild extremists with ideological, religious, racial, or ethnic hatreds. And King George at the time was insane, and the Parliament was too stubborn to compromise.
I would not have trusted such a program under Nixon or Cheney, nor would I trust it under any current Republican possibly running for President, with the possible exception of Peter King. But try to look for some more sophisticated approach to a policy that is more protective of liberty and security, both. I don't think we are free if we are dead. To look for the needle in the haystack, one must have the haystack. The issue is to watch carefully as to who is looking, and for what purpose, and for what information, and with what oversight. I have no trust of corporations having the information - do you trust them?
Far, far, far more Americans died during the Revolutionary War than all those killed by biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons combined. If you discount the Americans killed by chemical weapons used during WWII by actual nations the number drops even further. What, a handful of people sent anthrax in the mail?

Big deal.

Really, who could possibly be scared of terrorism? You're thousands of times more likely to be killed in a car crash.

More Americans die every year from lightning strikes than from terrorism. Hell, more Americans die every year from brain-eating amoebas found in lakes and streams.

Did you hear about the swat team showing up to the family's house? The husband used Google to look for a pressure cooker, and at some point in time during the same week the wife used Google looking for backpacks for the kids going back to school.

How'd the cops know what they were Googling? So much for "looking at foreigners only"!

i'm not saying it isn't true, but it occurs to me that the HIGH ALERT status the gov has put the embassies on because of all the CHATTER is inordinately coincidental with all of the fall-out from snowden and the NSA scandal.

i admit i'm a natural born skeptic, but even with me making adjustments for it, i find myself still very suspicious.

as i said, i'm not the proverbial brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, but i ain't stupid.

what's your take on it? whom do YOU trust?

Lexington, louisville and north ky.are all dem counties.also the dem co around those co got better road and other state spending then eastern ky. Yes it was because your dem gov spent the tax payer money on those dem counties.Yes that why their are prosperous. I guess you have no problem of spending the coal tax money all over ky. That money should have been spent in the counties it was collect in.I guess you never took ky history while you were in school.

According to this morning's paper, Rogers seems to have turned into a liberal left wing loonie.
Ya'all are going to git yore food stamps, no matter what.

Hal has always talked like a Republican and walked like a Democrat. The King of Pork has been a long time supporter of food stamps, and has a staff whose job it is to help people get on disability. That's why he will have his job as long as he wants it.

Hal Rogers is the Chair of the Appropriations Committee. He uses that power for personal gain, not to balance the budget, lower taxes, or pay down the debt. Just another big-spending big-government hack. He is also one of the career politicians who voted for the PATRIOT and FISA acts, the NSAA 2012 and indefinite detention, CISPA (and supported SOPA), the war on drugs, government involvement in private lives, the wars and foreign aid, and other government abuses. Anyone who votes for him is just another leftist, modern-liberal Republican.

Simply knowing him, being a member or friend of your family, being a familiar face, or personally giving you (taxpayer's) money doesn't make him a good guy or a good, conservative politician. We need a true, fiscal and antiwar conservative to primary him.
