That's incorrect - Once a duly elected Constable hass taken the oath , he has the power to arrest - But , he better also have the ability to properly cite said person to court - Touchy area - Constables need to be properly trained - Certifiedd officers have enough to worry about without dealing with (albeit good intentioned) untrained badge holders - Large ammounts of caution should be applied -

Constables technically have more authority in the state of KY than the other officers. A constable can take command of any crime scene in the county and is also the ONLY person legally allowed to arrest the Sheriff. Constables when elected begin training in Richmond and have to complete 80 hours of training before they can place blue lights in their vehicles, and make traffic stops and arrests, which does away with the untrained badge holders.

Actually and factually , any LEO can arrest the Sheriff with a warrant or if an eye witness to a felony committed in the officers presence - The Coroner can effect an arrest if he has probable cause , without a warrant - A duly sworn Constable can make an arrest just like any LEO - A point to be carefully considered is , not being a full time , academy trained , level headed , KRS informed officer , is it wise to arrest someone , knowing that their performance bond can be held liable for an unlawful detention ??-Very grey area , one not to be taken lightly -
