Granted , the time may have been served , the person rehabilitated , a promise to the good Lord that The Ten Commandments will be followed , all well and good -
Now , I would think that most crimes may not be forgotten , but forgiven - Probably , any needy employer would be willing to chance a con , except , child molesters , child rapists , or child murderers - Not directing this toward the poster or their friend , but , the last three catagories (I believe), should forever bar one from coming into contact , in ANY way , closely relating to children - If the last three don't apply , don't give up hope - Keep trying -

HaHaHa, one of the Hardy's, maybe more than one, is owned by the biggest crooks in Somerset. May not have a criminal record but a string of victims behind him.

Wonderfuel will hire you. You may need to go thru the job shop in order to get on there but they will hire you. You have to pass a drug test, hell 1/2 of the employees ther are convicts of some sort! Hell personally I wound not work there, but each to his own!

Used to work at Eagle Hardwood. I knew several people who had a criminal record that worked there. If you are looking for a cushy job, it's not, but if you are looking to pay the bills, It'll work.

Job applications ask the question, have ever been convicted of a felony, etc...if you check yes you don't get hired, this is why some ex-cons have to resort to crime to survive. Companies shouldn't be allowed to ask that question, unless the job involves child care.

Time is the only way to tell if a change has taken place - Not to you , but , it's well known that the world is full of jail house converts - I don't blame them - If my freedom was hinging on it , I'd swear allegiance to Ronald McDonald or Jeff Foxworthy - This person must swallow their pride , knock on closed doors , shake many hands , and let their present life and conduct speak for them - And , if called for , be truthful and forthcoming about their incarceration - Confession is good for the soul and billfold -

It is not a crime to lie on a job application. Heck, that is how most of us got our jobs, we lied or embellished about our past work experience or duties and responsibilities in our past jobs. What is the worst thing that can happen? If you check YES, they don't hire you. If you check NO, they hire you and maybe they find out about your record later and fire you for lying. Well, at least you got a paycheck for a month or two. You may have even impressed them with you hard work and they keep you around after telling you how disappointed they are that you lied.

I am not saying that people don't change, but the felons that I know, tend to continue with the life of crime. Prison mentality is a hard habit to break. They learn even more tricks in prison. Gaining employment only gives them an opportunity to find a way to gain. Good luck to your criminal friend, but I have been fooled believing in reform.
