I think when the work on the dam is finished they should do this with the lake:

Clear land around the lake
Bring in a ton of sand (which has shells in it of course)
Have "beach activities"
Have water skiiing competitions
Have parasailing
Build a small riverboat and have rides

Better check with the COE. I think a bunch of regulations would have to be changed. Just saying.

They used to have all of this near the causeway at Burnside Island.....besides the parasailing. They just need to clean up and refurbish the beach area. That old ski ramp floated out there for years....

The beach and skiing comp was done at Burnside with nationally televised competition at one time. The parasailing was done for several years near Conley and the river boat with cruises and food were done at Jamestown for a few years.

Apparently the economy will no longer support these activities.

I've often fantasized about a large paddle wheeled river boat docked at burnside, ready for a dinner cruise. Also includes gentlemen and women sitting around poker table with high stakes. A riverboat gambler would set in and take the pot. Ahh the days of old, if only they could return. This once great nation could use a little culture of what made it great.

I'm thinking at least two Riverboat Casino's (Paddle-Wheels) with the "works", anykind of food or drinks you would want, all food to be cooked "to order". Motel like rooms. A big gambling parlor. Spacious decks for sitting, eating, or just to take a moonlight stroll. With waiters, waitresses, and attendants to do my bidding, and definitely "room service".

Hal should have built wider roads to the boat docks in Pulaski County.

Yep, Hal built roads with our money , built them all the way to the docks, even built a big parking lot at Lees Ford, but yet we have to pay the dock to launch our boat. Aint that a witch!

Interesting ideas, but SOMEBODY would have to pay for such things. The Corp of Engineers job is to keep the lake stable and safe for generating power.

I grabbed a sandwich and drove down to eat it with my girlfriend at Fishing Creek. This nitwit walks over and tells us that we have to pay to use the picnic table. I mean, come on guys. Is that how we want to make money? That kind of thing just pisses people off and makes them vacation somewhere else.

I have lived here for a long time. I know that they used to have some of these things in Pulaski County. I just wish they would bring them back, but make it bigger and better.

They need to redo all of this stuff again, but make it bigger and better. With all the attention the water park has gotten, I think a lot of people from other counties would enjoy it also. We continuously need more stuff to do here besides eat out.

I agree 100%, and now that the place is swet, you could attract some bigger sponsors....sell a little beer at the beach, of course, you'd have to annex Burnside Island...lol.
