Oh, he's no fool, he's pretty slick manipulating other fools for money, I'd say.....<quoted text>Exactly what are the certain passages in the Koran that the extremists warp?
If you really want to understand Islam, read Robert Spencer's "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)" Now if you want to call Mr. Spencer a right-wing fool, go ahead but please cite exact examples and facts to support your claims. Fluid, general claims prove nothing. I want proof of what you say.
Here's a few notable quotes:
"Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know." Qur'an 8:60
"[slay the idolaters wherever you find them." Qur'an 9:5
"What are we calling you to, and what do we want from you?(1) The first thing that we are calling you to is Islam... It is the religion of jihad in the way of Allah so that Allah's Word and religion reign Supreme." Letter to the American people, November 2002, Osama bin Laden
Chechen jihadists cite Islamic law on jihad, Id. p. 42
"Blowing myself up is the only chance I've got to have sex with seventy-two virgins in the Garden of Eden." Fourteen year old Palestine suicide bomber to Israel troops. Id. p. 104
"The basis of the Islamic attitude towards unbelievers is the law of war; they must either be converted or subjugated or killed." An Introduction to Islamic Law" by Joseph Schacht, Oxford Clarendon Press, 1982
"In an October 2010 news article, an investigative report by The Tennessean described Spencer as one of several individuals who "...cash in on spreading hate and fear about Islam." Tennessean investigation concluded "IRS filings from 2008 show that Robert Spencer earned $132,537 from the David Horowitz Freedom Center, and Horowitz pocketed over $400,000 for himself in just one year"."
Like my main man, Jesse Ventura, would say.....follow the money.
It seems to m he cherry picks verses out of context to paint the picture he wants. Kinda like Hitler, the Klan, the Crusaders, the Catholic Conquistadors, etc, all used cherry picked scripture to justify their causes. I don't pretend to be a scholar on Islam, and I can't quote exact scripture without looking it up. I mainly remember a lot of confusion, but it's been since the mid 90's since I read anything from middle eastern culture, and that was Bhagavad Gita.
