Does anyone know when girl scout cookies will be available and where? Used to be plenty of young ladies selling them but last couple of years I run up on them by chance at a booth at various walmarts. If someone knows of a location and time I would appreciate it.

Booth sales start the 23rd. The Walmart here makes them stay away from the store and several have went away from there because of that. In the past, even if there was bad weather, they couldn't even come inside the door. Some may be there but several were held at Kmart and the mall last year.

They make them sit in the same place that groups that ask for donations sit and there are several restrictions on them there. I'm sure they sell a lot there just because of the number of people going in, but Walmart could be more considerate. And not only to them but to any group. Especially since they are supposed to so involved in the community. But regardless of where you find them, I'm sure they would be more than happy to sell you some cookies.

Our troop will be at Kmart 2/23 from 12-4 selling cookies. We would appreciate the support! Thanks!

Selling Girl Scout cookies used to be about more than just make money for your troop. It was also a learning experience. It taught the girls how to deal with people in a courteous manor and responsibility for taking orders, handling money and following through with deliveries. Now the kids just stand outside stores and for the most part it's the parents who do the selling, or even worse, they take the cookies to work and guilt their coworkers into buying them. The last two times I bought cookies, the girls where running around and playing while the moms did the selling and handled the money. I'm not sure why the Scouts were even there. Don't get me wrong. I'm a life time supporter of the Girl Scouts. It just strikes me that this has become another one of those things that some parents do "for" their kids, instead of "with them."

That might be true in some cases but don't put them all into that category. Some of them try very hard. And the orders taken at work are part of preorders and they just ask random people. It isn't that parents are trying to guilt people into buying them.

Go to a feed mill and buy someting called lamb replacer. It's like crack for ice cream addicts. Creamy, a little sweet, satisfies hunger like meat. OMG I think I found the perfect food!
