Really ! I would have thought it would be against the law to take a minor into a place like that ! Considering its a dry area anyways ?

Amvets is not for your kids. It's a members only private club for those who have served our country and their family members. You can't get in the door unless you are a member or are the guest of a member and they sign you in.

We probably all know that ! So how does it make it ok to allow children in there ! I mean I have no problem with anything that is in favor of the men and women who has served for our country ! But what does allowing children into a drinking etc establishment have to do with that ? Can you explain that to me ? If so please do ? Cause I'm not understanding ! My problem is we are taking something that should be used for those who did serve and giving them a get away or place to go , but if you have ever been to this place , over 70% in there hasn't served a day in there lives and I'm sure the 10 or 11 child hasn't got to grace our country and serve yet either ! So what's this teaching our children ? I think the AMVETS man head quarters needs to open there eyes and look into to what goes on in each of there posts! Including the post here in Somerset !

That doesnt shock me about that place. It wont make it long the way it is going now. It is supposed to be a place for veterans and family.

Many Amvet facilities are family oriented activities. Different programs, dinners invovlve the whole family.
Many private clubs across the US allow children providing they are with their guardian/parent and the guardian/parent is a member of the club. It is members discretion.

So they do allow children to go in with a parent etc during normal times while people sit around and drink and such ! And this is a good practice to be doing ? I understand events and other such things such as children helping out ! They need to do more of that everywhere , but I really have a concern agreeing with you that it's ok to take a child into club or whatever that serves alcoholic drinks etc in a environment of a bar type setting ! That's not open to the public ! If it's open to the public then the community eyes watch over things and for the most part it's ok ! But a non public place allowing children to go in like this I'm not sure on that

I'm not saying I agree with the rules and policies, I was just providing info on clubs across the US. Some clubs are small and "closed" and others are large truly open to members and family, if you know what I mean.

AMVETS is for veterans and there family, and we also donate to and help out people in need of help. so why do so many NON veterans have issues with that.. all you NON veterans go start your own NON vetrans post and make your own rules.

The local Amvets only has family oriented activities at Christmas. They have a Christmas program for needy children. You must be 21 to enter the lounge area and be a member or the guest of a member. There should never be a reason for someone under 21 to be seen in the lounge area.

It's a private club/organization. Very family oriented as well. Henceforth, it may be prudent to mind your own business about things you're not savvy on. Could the OP be a "dryer", on the rampage about liquor perhaps?

Not sure who are may be referring to a punch in the face , but however it's like this anybody including you billy bad man that allows or up holds a under age child to a place like this and in the lounge area where it's all open etc! Is a sorry parent ! Period ! And we wonder why kids are drinking and on drugs so much this day and time ! It's cause parents is exposing them to it ! Heck they don't know no better well I seen my mommy do it so u can to ! People stand up for what's right ! Don't stand up for what's wrong just because you like to drink etc .

A minor child in the lounge would be just one of the problems there.
