I just responded to your silly statement. So perhaps you should answer that question yourself.

So what you are saying,Somerset is the political and moral standards for America.By your statement taking Somerset as the high ground. We should have no crime in Somerset. There are more churches, and professing Christians per capita, than any place I have lived.Somerset only has approx.8000 people.Liberals and conservatives reach out further than Somerset.
I do not believe you know the difference.

What are you smoking?

You said In response to Yiago:I find it funny, there are more liberals on welfare, and government programs.Conservatives work for a living. But what does politics have to do with global warming?

To which I said:If conservatives worked for a living, welfare recipients in this area would be few to none. Conservatives have no problems taking government handouts. They just object to others doing the same.

Then you said:Like i said, What does politics have to do with the global warming issue?

To which I said:I just responded to your silly statement. So perhaps you should answer that question yourself.

Then you start spewing some rambling nonsense about morals, religion and Somerset. Ive only lived in Somerset the last 8 years so Im still adjusting to the mindset of some of the natives. Even so, I have to say you are one whacked out dude and definitely not worth any more of my time.

It has nothing to do with the science itself, but everything to do with public opinion. Right wing talking heads have successfully painted this as a Big Government issue when it should be discussed on the merits of the science, not the irrationality of Limbaugh's pea brain head.

That is true. This area is overwhelmingly conservative and has a lot of people getting public assistance. I have family who get the whole nine yards from the government and walk around making racist jokes about the President and claiming they "didn't come from no monkeys".

Liberals they are not.

In fact, every single Liberal friend I have works for a living.

Now, if you go into some other areas of the country it is different. But that goes to show that the dynamics have more to do with culture than politics.

So lets get off of the left and right wing nut jobs, and talk about science. Global warming became an environmentalist catch phrase in the late 80s.
Just like volcano eruptions can cause the cooling of the earth, so can pollution.
In 1760 someone declared it the beginning of the industrial revolution. The only fuel they used was coal and wood, and very little bio-fuels.So the world was polluting itself. In the early 1800s, along came the steam engines, powered mostly by coal in the east, and wood in the west.In the early 1900s we added the automobile. We polluted our atmosphere for over 200 years. Putting all this pollution constantly into the atmosphere, was acting like a cloud and blocking out a lot of the heat from the sun.In the 70s we figured out what a mess we were in, and began cleaning up the air. When the cloud of pollution was removed, the heat from the sun was allowed to do what it does best, heat. This a brief summary of what the environmentalist are in such an uproar.
Just follow the money.

In the 1970's scientists were claiming that another Ice Age was imminent. As the decade turned, they changed their minds I guess after seeing more opportunity (financial and status related) in a warming climate. I'm sure Al Gore is happy they made that huge shift. He's nearly a billionaire now due in large part to the whole global-warming con he has pulled on a guilt-ridden audience.
Liberals want to follow in lockstep with Al Gore, fine. Those who want the complete story can have a listen to what the founder (John Coleman) of the Weather Channel has to say on the subject...

Global warming is a natural process.I don't care about polar bears, the strong survive. If it is between me and a white bear, bear looses. Maybe they will go to Russia. We know the chicken hearted environmentalist will not go there. They only believe in it when they are safely tucked into bed in America.

Let me give you a scenario.
You have a job, and make $4000 a month. You will probable pay$1500 of that in taxes. You probably pay more than that.
You pay for all your expenses.
Now you have a neighbor, she has a live in boyfriend,2 kids, no one works in this house. They just kick back and live off of your tax dollars. Free food, free housing, a check every month, free medical care. They get every thing free that you have to pay for, by working every day.And at the end of the year they get a $5000 tax return.
I do not think that is fair to the working person.Take a working persons money to support a non worker.Do you?
Oh did I mention, your neighbor is here illegally.
If that makes me a right wing nut, then that's what I am.I believe a person should work for their keep.
I do not classify peoples political views. The only people I put into a category are the environmentalist.I don't think you have had a lot of dealings with these people.I have seen in person what their personal agendas can do.

People who knock anothers persons views do not bring a whole bunch to the table.

I'm really not interested in political debate. This is a thread about education and science. I believe in both, and am very concerned that some people don't.

I'm not sure what this has to do with AGW.

Also, I'm not aware of that scenario. As a child I was fed and clothed thanks to welfare and food stamps. Let me tell you with absolute conviction and honesty...we did NOT "kick back" and "enjoy" any benefits that I enjoy as a working adult. We lived in a shack and ate cheap. We had no car, no phone. We had nothing.

There are people in my extended family who receive government assistance. In some cases it is justifiable and I am happy to help pay for that system. In other cases it is frustrating to see perfectly capable people living on the draw.

But even in those cases they are certainly not "kicking back" and enjoying the things I work for. They have nothing. They live check-to-check, rack up credit card debt, and I am not aware of them ever receiving $5000 or any tax return money.

The jab at immigrants is not necessary. I don't really give a flip about that. People are people.

Can you show me where people are living on welfare and getting $5000 tax returns? If that is true, I am going to be truly pissed off.
