I am not from Kentucky and I have always used the word wasp, but my husband is from here and he says it is pronounced wasper. What do you think?

HaHa guess I learned something today... Hadn't really ever thought much about it but guess I always thought that "waspers" was the plural for "wasp"... You know... He got stung by a wasp, and they found a big waspers nest... LOL...

What's sad is that I know waspers isn't correct, yet I still say it sometimes. I'm a country gal.

Wasp , wasper , yellow jacket , hornet , or bumbly bee - I got hit by 5 or 12 of somethings today - Had to strip my shirt off while trying to shut my weed eater off and finally just threw the thing down and ran - You could hear me yellin' clear to Alpine -

Some academics maintain that residents from this part of Appalachia miss-pronounce certain words such as: Wasps, Aluminum, Coil, Oil, Boil, Tire, Tower, Dog, Frog,Ought, Naught, Bought, and one of my favorites-- Mischievous. Of course, there are countless other simple English words that locals have difficulty in pronouncing correctly. What say you?
