Does Obama have nothing better to do with his time than call and congratulate someone on announcing he is gay? I wonder if he found the time yesterday to call the families of those murdered in Benghazi that he did not protect and also lied about. Seriously, if you are not upset about this country's leadership, then you are not paying attention.

Another white trash comment from someone who would harp about ANYTHING our esteemed President would do!

I suppose you're also homophobic?

It took tons of courage to so what that NBA player did, and you should be ashamed of yourself!

I'd bet both my homes that you're a republican.

This person brought up a good point but let's not talk about that. We should just call them homophobic and white trash. Mighty democrat of you.

Wrong on all counts!

Straight female, married for 19 years.

Methodist. Attend church most Sundays.

Independent.

I didn't vote for Obama or Romney, but I have respect for both gentlemen.

It takes tons of courage for a 17 year old kid to come out to their parents and family too and that happens everyday. Where is the phone call from your "leader" to those kids? Oh, that's right; he wouldn't get any publicity for that.

Like you said, kids do that everyday. This guy is the first active professional athlete to come out. That's a big deal. He opened a door for other people.

No, it didn't. He is a mediocre player who averages two points a game. He has finally gained notoriety by telling the world the type of sex he prefers. Who really cares?

Would I get public notoriety and a call from the Prez if I announced that I prefer women? No. So this guy isn't courageous--his sexuality has absolutely NOTHING to do with how well he puts a ball in a hole (No pun intended). Same goes with NASCAR racers being male/female--it has nothing to do with their ability to perform their job so there really is nothing courageous about "coming out" as a person who prefers men rather than women.

I understand that but he is no more important than anyone else. It doesn't deserve the amount of media attention it has gotten and it certainly isn't important enough for the White House to get involved. In about a week Obummer went from speaking at Planned Parenthood and telling them how great they were and that abortion was ok to putting a national spotlight on a gay not-so-great no name basketball player. I guess that was a successful week for Obummer. At least he came off the golf course for it.

For someone who has been married for 19 years that was a very childish remark. That pedestal you put yourself on can't be very high.

Actually women might have a bit of an advantage. The altered fat distribution allows them to take higher G-Forces. They do on average tend to make better fighter pilots.

That's quite possible. But honestly I don't care what someone has between their legs, or what gender they prefer to mess around between their legs. If they're a good athlete then they're a good athlete. This NBA guy doesn't seem to be a necessarily good one compared to most others in the NBA averaging only two points per game.

From a conspiracy theory standpoint, here's a fun one for you: perhaps the nba player in question was doing very poorly and feared losing his job. He "comes out" and reveals that he is gay, because he has nothing to lose, and the NBA would never consider firing someone right after they come out due to the risk of being seen as bigoted.

Not that this is probably what happened, but it's an interesting theory.

What? Someone using the media to get publicity and grant themselves celebrity status so their boss is afraid of firing them? That could never happen in America ;)

What kind of church do you attend that teaches homosexuality is OK with God and that you have the right to judge your neighbors (trailer park)?
Face it, you've been outed yourself...as a flaming Liberal.

Do you not watch the news? He attended the funerals

God doesn't belong to a church so why should we? Homosexuality is a part of nature. It is commonly seen in pigs and rats. It's God's way of reducing the number of breeders as a means of population control. God made them that way. They didn't choose it.

yeah the trailer park comment was low. There are perfectly decent people who live in trailer parks
