all the people that are talking smack will need help one day, no matter who you are, WE ALL need a little help sometimes. & there is not one thing wrong with that! the government cheats us anyways and most of us work our butts off to make a dollar our whole lives.

yes, there is something wrong with mooching off the government while sitting at home being too lazy to work, but some of us actually do work and you all should know with the way the economy is that everyone is either getting fired or laid off. so theres absolutely nothing wrong with getting help. at least the tax dollars are going towards feeding people, the government doesnt have to do that, they could be using it for their selfish wants, which yes i know they do but still. if you can afford to put food on your table, then good for you, but for those who can't dont go assume its because they are mooching, because maybe they just need a hand for a little while. no matter who you are, we ALL need a little help sometimes.

God Bless.

Here u go!! 16066774103 I see nothing wrong with asking for help if you need it. I agree that there are some out there that take advantage of that help! The ones that live off of AFDC checks and foodstamps. Generation after generation!! That's what makes me angry!! I have worked since I was 16, paying my taxes every year like good citizen should. A couple of years ago, my husband got hurt at work and is now disabled. I quit my job to take care of him after mutiple surgeries...so there went my income. He draws a disability check and a small workmans comp check(and I do mean small). Plus we have children. I went to try and get foodstamps to help us out for awhile, til he could get a little better, and I was able to work again. And they turned me away, saying he drew to much!!! They don't care how much your rent or mortgage, how much you pay for car insurance, etc. I was stunned and so very angry at the injustice of the "system"!! Ask for help if you truly need it...just don't take advantage of it is all I care about!! Peace

Thank you WOW for the telephone number. And for the person who told me to look in the phone book and google it, I did that before I posted on topix. The cabinet for families and children is not in my phone book and when I googled the one in pulaski it brought up ones in other cities.

Not a problem. It's under the government pages and listed as The Department of Social Insurance I think. But they will just tell you to come in Hun. And when you fill out an application, you will think they want to know everything but your bra size..haha!!

i would think the biggest reason most of the people that bashed the person asking for the phone number did so because of the persons attitude toward working a "less than desirable" job. I can completely understand a person being in a bad situation in life and needing help temporarily until able to get back on their feet, but this person made it sound like they are too good to work at a restaurant. In todays world, any job is better than no job. You should forget about your pride and think about what you have to do to help your family. If you need assistance during the transition before you get the first couple of paychecks that is understandable but dont expect people to be understanding when you are telling them you are too good to work fast food but you're not too good to spend the food stamps that those same people work their butts off paying taxes that provide you with those food stamps.

I understand where you are coming from, however in the places that you mentioned I was told when applying to them after getting some education and the experience that I already had, that I was too qualified to work at that place. Before you can assume that is the case you must also remember that there are people out there that can't get hired by places like McD's because those places say they are too qualified to work there.

MY GOSH, SHE JUST WANTED THE DAMN PHONE NUMBER! YOU DON'T KNOW HER SITUATION, SO SHUT THE CRAP UP...
SOMETIMES THOSE GOVERNMENT NUMBERS ARE A BITCH TO FIND IN THE PHONE BOOK...
IF YOU'LL NOTICE,SHE HASN'T EVEN BEEN ON HERE SINCE I GAVE HER THE PHONE NUMBER...PROBABLY BECAUSE SHE HAS MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO, LIKE FEED HER CHILDREN????
