I hear youth around here (preteen, teen, young adults) are accepting and having interracial relationships primarily white females and black males. why is this? i dont see it, as in the couples. i dont see the interracial couples everyone talks about, im confused. Also, is it a good thing, that our middle and junior high schools are promoting interracial relationships, as opposed to say, dating your own race...is it good their doing this in schools? is it helpful or hurtful? Love is Love, but some say there are bonus to interracial love. What is it? irritate racist? better kissers? show their love more? better in bedroom? Better looking? Lets keep racism out of this discussion and lets show some intelligence. PEACE:)

The fact that youth see the pairing of interracial couples all over television is one reason it is so accepted. The Progressives back in the 50's and 60's stated that if you show it enough it will become accepted behavior. I am not a redneck racist, but not sure it should be a normal practice. Being older, it was not accepted in my high school days, but it does it appears that it is no big deal in our present society. Maybe it is a status symbol for the age.

Its confusing, idk i seen a couple or 2 age 20 or so but NEVER say a teen interracial couple around here. Never, and we go to movies alot.....u seen black 15 year old girls with black 15ish year old black guys, white females that age, same thing with white guys. I dont see it happening myself here(Russell Springs) just me. i dont think its goin on:/

The young are experimenting to their curiosity. More teens are experimenting in many aspects to the culture as with race and sexual preference. Teens accept others as they want to be accepted, that may included being gay as well. The black/white relationship is not near as noticed as the female/female relationships in Somerset. The male/male is not as open, but it is still acceptable among teen peers.
It is the curiosity at the moment, as they get older they will attempt to figure out what they want for themselves. Parents can try to sway their beliefs onto their children, but children will make the choice, whether it is acceptable or not with parents.

Aren't we past this? Maybe you guys are old but this isn't Leave it to Beaver. Go to a college campus, walk around and deal with what has changed. I don't understand why this would be controversial.

I agree. I think it's so sad that this is 2012 and this is still a discussion!

Discussion is healthy. No one stated it is a problem in these posts. The fact is, the Progressives in this country start with small things that become the norm, and at the time more higher profile behavior is changed, the masses do not notice it and accept it with little resistance. That is how society is forced into a change without resistance. Dictators are created by this method.
The point I trade to make is that change is accepted the more it is seen by the people.

What about the children? Here is some info for your study and even covers how to care for the hair of bi-racial children. The first quote is from the links below.

"Quite a few studies attest in some way to the emotional, health and behavioral risk problems of multiracial adolescents," he said. "The most common explanation for the high-risk status is the struggle with identity formation, leading to lack of self-esteem, social isolation and problems of family dynamics in biracial households."

These problems are the fault of our society for it's bigotry, not the fault of parents for their race. Go back far enough in your family tree and you'll find that most of us are bi,tri, and quad racial, anyway. So the cure for these children's issues lies in educating the masses and in building children's self esteem, not in discouraging people who are in love from reproducing.

The world today is teaching our children acceptance. That is not a bad thing, they are learning to look beyond a persons outer appearance and see what is on the inside. This is what has been going on in big cities in the U.S for years. It has just now made it down this way.

"We are all God's children. Love and be merry"? That is until you're able to track down and harass Nope on a thread. Isn't that right, Bob? Additionally, I see that hypocrisy is still one of your better attributes.

I agree it is not right. I think people should stay with there own race. We do not see cows breeding with horses, and so on. if this makes me awful , then so be it

What you are referring to is inter-SPECIES breeding and has nothing to do with this topic.
We are all ONE race, divided into subcategories by society!
I am technically biracial(Cherokee blood runs deep) and I am raising a tri-racial child.

Racism is not an inborn characteristic. It is taught, usually first by parents, then society and sometimes, experience. It all needs to end. We are on this planet together.
