I'd bet if you did a report and really studied it. Kids who played high school sports end up better in life then those who didn't. Not saying it be 100% right but I bet it would surprise you.

I agree with that, I think the point was-it doesn't matter who has won the most championships. What dies that have to do with now and these kids?

A-MEN. This has just gotten pathetic. Get him out now before he gets a chance to spoil our great incoming 8th grade class. Where is gatorbait to defend his boy DA?

You are correct in depicting Coach A and I as Friends...You as an out-sider can in no-way see All the good he has done year after year as a Teacher, coach and mentor to so man ...We know, and many more will support me... Save that thought as this post will be the only response you get from me...

It seems that in recent years the focus at SW has been to promote a small group of players as all-state worthy or elite. They have been successful in getting this small group notice and accolades but they have failed miserable on the scoreboard. This thinking has caused other kids, who were good but not stars to quit. That is evident by the size of this year's senior class. It is shameful for a school that size to have to play as many players both ways as SW did this season. I don't know that he needs to be fired but his philosophy needs to change.

Sw has a great program, facility and coach. It would be hard to beat anyone with 9 turnovers. The coach did not turn the ball over did he. In fact whitley has had turnovers all season that have caused many losses where they should have won. Whitley played finally to their potential and they are probably better than anyone in their district. My point is win lose draw whatever support your coaches players and program through thick and thin and everything will come together. Don't get on topix and bash. Shame on all of you. Your coach is good and does things with class. I hope this will affect someone on the right way.

If it were just this season it would be one thing but it has happened year after year in the playoffs. There is no doubt that Coach A has done a lot for his players but a big part of coaching is winning games. I've watched him lose time after time in the playoffs to teams that he has no business losing to. Promoting your players and getting them scholarships is great, but win the ones you should win. Maybe he needs to be AD and focus full time on getting kids scholarships?

I just heard that Jay Cobb has been contacted about the job. Let's keep Dale if that's our only option.

Now that would be an interesting twist. I think someone is just trying to stir stuff up.

<quoted text>You make no sense. Most kids that play ball on the high school level have no plans to play division one ball. However, they still enjoy the sport in high school. I tend to think it helps them in the future too. Most would not trade those days for anything.
That's right...

There's not a great deal of talent there and really hasn't been in awhile, regardless of what parents think. When they've had talent they've won quite a bit.

The practice of encouraging kids to focus only on football has caught up. Kids don't like being pressured to pick and choose. That has cut into the numbers severely.

But I agree: the head coach wasn't turning
the ball over constantly.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but as a pretty big Football fan I know that every coach works their tails off each week and I'm sure Anderson and his staff worked hard. It seems nobody on here is blaming poor play for such a lopsided game. Eleven turnovers and the radio failed to say that Anderson threw any interceptions or fumbled a single time. Not sure any coach can come up with a game plan that could hide that many turnovers. It's something I'm sure all of the parents are on here trying to deflect their child's awful display of football this past Friday. All I can say it was awful and Coach Anderson should not take all of the heat for this one. Wake up parents and spread the blame where it belongs or don't and leave Coach Anderson out of it. 11 turnovers and SW coaching staff didn't have a single one of them.

All that says is PC had a run of athletes for ohhh 4 years. After abners group is done, pc will be back to the old pc.
Congrats, guys ... you're both mediocre.

And why does it matter who has won the most, no one cares except the kids playing and their parents. All these parents get so wrapped up in their little stars but in 10 years 99.9% of them will be nothing more than a kid that played a sport at this school or that. If your not division 1 material, nobody cares. Hence, nobody cares! You see, the reason there is no great teams anymore is because everyone thinks their kid is bigger than the TEAM.
Pure jibberish!

I played at SHS in the late 70s and early 80s (okay, I didn't play much, but I was on the team, lol).

Without any effort at all, I can quickly give you the following stats from my four years as a Jumper:

5 doctors
3 lawyers
2 police officers
2 engineers
4 decorated veterans
1 public school superintendent
1 college professor
1 VERY successful business owner/entrepreneur
2 accountants

I keep in touch with many of them, and ALL of them to this day affirm that the lessons they learned in athletics were a HUGE key to their future successes in life.

In other words, there's a LOT more to high school sports than simply making it to the big time. It ain't about "goin' D-1."

You've got that right. I feel that the ones that make these stupid statements were never a part of the brotherhood of a team.

A few years ago when the Warriors were having better results there were twenty or more incoming freshmen every year. Southern Middle wasn't winning as well but they were sending the numbers up. You can't pick out high school stars in the eighth grade. Kids mature different and some hit growth spurts, some stop growing. The whole purpose of the middle school program should be to feed the high school, at least in my opinion. It's sad when a school the size of Southwestern doesn't have enough freshmen for a freshmen team. Southwestern has four good coaches, two weak ones. Anderson is very good with the kids going far and above the call of duty. The warrior nation is a family. While winning football games is one of the priorities, there are others. That field house is a refuge for some of those kids. Anderson does need to make some improvements but may he be there many years to come.

really your trying to put the blame on a middle school program that has more kids out than the high school. If they don't play in high school what does this have to do with Southern?
