I noticed that George Flynn and his group of magistrates have joined the game. Something to keep watching as this adjustment of local power takes place.
Who are "Flynn's Magistrates" and how can you tell? This group of magistrates have been "all for one, one for one" and completely in "lock-step"4.

Exactly what I mean "Flynn's Magistrates" He helped all of them get elected and Barty too. Strunk and Turpen had no chance without Flynn and they are both on the SPCU according to the last list in the paper.

If Eddie is going to hold out for two more years he better circle the wagons and get rid of the department heads and staff that are not backing him . He has allowed most of his staff to have out side deals with folks that now are against him. Now his staff cannot stand up for Eddie because they have partnerships with the same people that want this study.
It all works fine when everyone is friends but gets real sticky when trouble shows up.
He will be taken down from the inside, he thinks he has won to many of the former Mayors staff over, they are getting by with what they want until they can get who they want in office, but you can't blame them, EG will be the one who suffers from this mess.

I know four department heads that have been caught in the cookie jar and also have sweet deals with the same guy trying to get Unified government going. They also have sweet deals with the City of Somerset, they need that gas/city hall built , too get all the benefits associated with the gas wells they own.

This is so true. The very ones who he thinks support him will turn on a dime given the first opportunity. He is feared by many, respected by few.

The Unified group got shut down again tonight at the council meeting. Isn't this a free country with free speech? Is it a country where a city council is in fear of a dictator mayor? All of them need replaced, doesn't matter if you are for this thing or not, they have a right to speak.

Weren't they told at the last meeting to do the study and then come back?

Showing up again in an attempt to beg money had a predetermined outcome, and SPCU knew that going in.

Were they even given the opportunity to talk?

Reminds me of when dissenting voices to a wet Burnside were silenced at their city council meetings. I don't know the rules that govern city council meetings, but it seem's that in Pulaski county they're not open to public voices

No the city's leaders where a) explaining to billy miller who built current EMS that it was the county's fault the current plan failed, b) setting up a new $75k position, CFO, for the Mayor's appointment (he has a candidate in mind), c) appointing the city attorney's father to the zoning or variance board, and d) creating, first reading, the City's own Tourism Board and hotel tax.

Watch the proceedings STV on channel 8 or from the City's website ( it should be up in a couple of days).

Are Somerset residents proud of this? Is this what the residents actually want, to control everything in the county? When will this crap end? What will be next?
So many questions, so few answers.

Pulaski County government is teetering on bankruptcy, and has been for some time. Mayor Girdler is doing what he's called to do-- represent only the best interests of Somerset. Somerset government has the assets in this scenario, and the county has only a beggar's plea. Only a village idiot would lend an ear to the Progressive Brotherhood of Pulaski County. Mayor Girdler will ‘John Wayne' ‘em again, in order to protect the interests of the loyal property owners of Somerset.

Soon, Frankfort will step in and assume the fiscal affairs of the county. At that time, many will realize that Somerset had no alternative but to consider any plan to combine city-county governments as nonsense.

Maybe next county election the voters will elect qualified, educated people to run things?

I don't know alot about the County's budget and where monies are allocated but, maybe Pulaski County government needs to tighten its belt and start cutting spending?
There are always savings to be found if you look at problems like this from a strictly financial standpoint.
For example, is the county top-heavy on the administration side of the road dept? Or the Sheriff's dept? Would early retirement offers help cut expendatures?
What about equipment inventories? Can the county selloff unused or non-viable assets?
Then, take a look at payroll. Are any depts having recurring problems with overtime?
How about contract labor? Can the work be done cheaper by employees?
Inform all depts that they need to be prepared to make across the board cuts. Everything from travel reimbursements to office supplies. Nothing is sacred when budgets are tight.

Grow up people it's just a study! The PEOPLE will have to vote. What's the big deal unless you are hiding something!!! I'm all about gaining information so give the study a chance then voice your opinion when it comes time to vote!!

They need to come in and inspect the city's books.

What specifically do you say an inspection of city's fiscal affairs will reveal? Please respond.
