Here you go this shows where he was involved in a lawsuit. I got this off the CJ website too.

Mayor Girdler thanked the city council, City Attorney Carrie Wiese, the firms of Stites and Harbison of Frankfort and Sturgill, Turner, Barker and Moloney of Lexington, acting gas manager Charlie Dick, city engineer Alex Godsey, and finance director Jimmy Hogg for their work and cooperation in the effort.

So to say he doesn't work for gas department or has anything to do with it, might not be exactly true? You think?

Did Charlie helped put this new gas deal together that will make Somerset the "Hub"??

Being in business with one of your employees can also create a conflict of interest. Do they talk about their business during the regular working hous when being paid by the City. What happens when there is a employee problem ? How does that change how Charlie will deal with his employee. Is this employee now different from the other employees ?? Lots of problems here ???

Don't you think this might give him a little heads up on this little business venture he got into? How do they take care of these gas wells, if they work monday thru friday till 5pm? No one can tell me that they haven't took a ride over to eastern Ky and checked out the gas wells, during the week. This is so bad on so many levels.

Ethic's board looks into it and then their findings go to mayor and city council, if the findings are against and the mayor ignores it , then it will be up to the ethic's board and city council to take it farther, either to the state ethic's board or the attorney generals office, following ethic's is a state law, i have no idea what penalty's are for not following them.

Also the council is in charge of the budget, they can decide on who they want to buy natural gas from. They just have to stand up and do it.

If there is a problem, the council should address it in open meeting. Think it will?

I would like to think so. If they do what they are suppose to do they will. There are 1 or 2 with some guts, the rest are there for a check.

If it is addressed in open meeting, then I'm sure the article Saturdau won't be the last one on the topic in the cj.

Its very simple, contact ethic board members and see if they were asked for their approval back in June , when this originally come about. I don't think they would lie. I would personally settle for whatever they said.

I don't know for sure ... but I'm not positive the ethics board is consulted unless there is a complaint. I could be wrong.

Someone has been complaining if they have cotacted some of the Council and the Mayor, there has to be something going on or the paper wouldn't have printed the story.

I think there is a council meeting monday night, so if anyone is concerned it may be brought up then and if they are not concerned then they will let it go.

Perception means everything in public service. This should not be allowed, period.

This has to be the smartest Mayor we have ever had, he can explain anything to the council and they buy in to what he tells them where it is right or wrong. I have seen many of the council meetings where they have been fighting with the Mayor, then he explains it and everything is fine for awhile after that, he has also taken a council that was against him and has most on his side now, so this man knows what he is doing and really good at it also, no one gets anything over on him.
