There used to be a christmas island at burnside park, but I think they moved it to the lees ford marina. Never been there. Lexington has a big light display at the horse park.

Lee's Ford is a joke this year, went last week. 1/2 the lights were not even working, no wonder it was free!

I went to Lees Ford last year and it was really nice. I've not been this year. Maybe they don't have it completed yet.

We drove all the way to Burnside from out of town just to see the Christmas lights. We found out they had moved, once we found the lights, I realized how big of a joke they were. The Santa village is money hungry, I couldn't even take pics of my children feeding the reindeer. The lady running the show really was quiet rude, and was insistent that the only way I could take a pic is if I would allow my kids or better even pay the Santa village for the pics. What a joke! The light show was non-existent. I was very disappointed. If you haven't gone and were planning to, save your time and gas money!

i think the lights at lee's ford are a very good experience considering it is FREE. they have several things to offer. they also have the ice skating rink set up. you people need to quit bashing people that are trying to do things when nobody else is doing anything. they have not been in burnside for 3-4 years. where have you been living on the moon.

You don't have to be so mean about it. It hasn't been that long. I know I used to work there. From my understanding if you are looking for some lights go there. If you want to see pretty ones and descent ones go to the horsepark in lexington. The ice skating rink is not free. It is expensive. Five dollars a person and two fifty for the skate rental. That is a joke. Get a life.

I agree with you. We went one year and they also wanted us to pay for the pictures. It was a big money hungry joke.
Mt.Vernon has a light show that is free on weekends and a santa workshop. That is if you don't want to go to lexington. Never been so I don't know what it is like.

come on people the lights suck this year. Lees Ford has runied the light display. At least they didn't give you that stupid harbor cupon. The one where you can get a drink with you meal for free and one free beer for grandma and the kids.

FYI the lights are in "burnside". Oh yeah you bunch of dumb hicks where is the Red Lobster, Oh Charlie, and Johnny Carboros. People were told the contracts were signed.

I happen to like the Harbor. In fact I go there to have a cold one 3 times a week. No one ever said that Burnside is going to get a main chain because they are moist. You need to make sure you have facts before you fire off post like that.

We went to see the lights and it just sucked. Half were burnt out and some where flashing. Not nearly as good as burnside was. It was a joke. Now the ice skating rink looked pretty good. We are gonna try it this weekend.

I don't understand how people believe someone should spend allof their time and money and give it all away. Of course it is going to be either a marketing opportunity or a way to show appreciation to the community served. If they pay for it and people from near and far come to take advantage of it but never give them any business. Is that smart business.

Now if they don't provide photo op's or something to make it memorable or enjoyable for people and it just seems to be a cash cow it'll flop anyway.

What about those who don't have a home w/computer, a car to drive to go see the lights etc.

Its really sad to read how everyone is talking about christmas island now. I actually was lucky enough to be a part of the first year the lights were up on Burnside island. We worked our butts off that year putting them lights up and making sure that every single bulb stayed lit every single night! A woman named Julie Godby was in charge of it then. And done a really great job! As well as a man named Bobby Hamilton who donated his time along with others. Though the work was hard and cold, it was all worth every minute of it by seeing the look on the faces of the little kids when the saw the lights! I have to honestly say that the feeling it gave me to be a part of something that brought so much joy to those kids,is one of the proudest and happiest memories of my life. And to hear what has become of that is truly very sad!

I think the Vocational school really helped out the first 5 or 6 years - Maybe longer - Bring the lights back to town and start over -
