You're shittin' me - Spend a cool million on the fountain square - Even if an individual gifted them this money , don't you folks think that God's Food Pantry , A I M , and a few other organizations would appreciate just a 10th of that money ?? WTH are they going to do , put in a whirlpool bath , computer hook ups , wide screen t v's , bike racks , and , of course , bikes ?????I say , melt down that statue , recast it into a cross in memory of all the aborted babies , and feed the hungry - Can I get a great big "hellyeah" ??

Anything will be an improvement over what we have now at fountain square. The county owns the real estate, however, the county lacks the sophistication necessary to properly present the property to an appreciating public. This will be money well-spent, if the county will put the project into proper hands. Bring back the Somerset Garden Club ladies.

The square needs a damn facelift.

It hasnt looked near as good since the trees were removed.

I say good idea. Bitch about the money though, it's probably and possibly donated. IF not, cry about your tax dollars going to something that changes the looks of our neglected town.

That may be true, but it sure as heck don't cost a million bucks to plant a few trees and flowers.

Have a question that someone can possibly check into just for curiosity sake.

When the funding was approved for the new judicial building there was a big blue print of what the tax dollars was being used for, now with that said.....has anyone looked at the design and implementation of the blueprints? From a print I had seen by an aquaintance, the fountain square area was part of that plan, there was also a "PARK" area set aside with fancy everything that over time if and when the judicial building needed to make improved additions, that park area would be converted to accomidate the building usage.
Now if all this money is already allocated for this judicial site, why would the city, county, state or federal need to spend an additional 1million face lift on a circle in the middle of the road (we call fountain square)?

Would someone associated with this project explain exactly in pennies....what, where and when each cent was to be spent and who decides when and where to make monetary changes or blueprint changes to the budget.

Possibly the public has not been completely informed as what the project expenditures include or not include from the original plans and cost figures.

To some that know who and what they are , ignorance is bliss - God still loves you , even in your times of mental uncertainity - To use a worn out and sometimes hated cliche', get a life , quickly - Peace -

The proposed 1 mil for square improvements did not come from the Judicial monies - That being said , it could still be better spent - I love bacon and sausage , but that's too much pork to swallow -
